Iesu Grist yw'n Bugail

Jesus is our Shepherd

Iesu Grist yw'n Bugail
  Yn yr anial fyd,
Perffaith ddiogel ydym,
  Yn ei fynwes glyd;
Ond i ni ei ddilyn,
  Dwg ni yn ei ras,
At y dyfroedd tawel,
  At y borfa fras.

Iesu Grist yw'n Bugail -
  Iesu'r Bugail mwyn,
Melus yw ei eiriau
  Gan ei anwyl ŵyn;
Pan mae yn ceryddu
  O! mor dyner yw;
Iesu byth ddilynwn,
  Iddo byddwn byw.

Iesu Grist yw'n Bugail
  A'i ddeheulaw gref
Geidw draw'r holl fleiddiaid, -
  Ffoant rhagddo Ef:
Ni raid ofni angeu,
  Goleu ydyw'r glyn,
Yn nysgleirdeb dwyfol
  Concwest pen y bryn.

Tôn [6565D]: Jesus is our Shepherd
    (Thomas Hastings 1784-1872)

Jesus Christ is our Shepherd
  In the desert world,
Perfectly safe are we,
  In his cosy bosom;
If only we follow him,
  He will bring us in his grace,
To the quiet waters,
  To the rich pasture.

Jesus Christ is our Shepherd -
  Jesus the gentle Shepherd,
Sweet are his words
  To his beloved lambs;
When he is chiding
  O how tender he is!
Let us follow Jesus forever,
  For him let us live.

Jesus Christ is our Shepherd
  And his strong right hand
Shall keep away all wolves, -
  They shall flee from Him:
There is no need for us to fear death,
  Light is the vale,
In the shining, divine
  Conquest of the summit of the hill.
tr. 2018 Richard B Gillion
Jesus is our Shepherd,
  Wiping ev'ry tear;
Folded in his bosom,
  What have we to fear?
Only let me follow
  Whither he doth lead,
To the thirsty desert,
  Or the dewy mead.

Jesus is our Shepherd,
  Well we know his voice;
How its gentlest whisper
  Makes our heart rejoice!
Even when he chideth,
  Tender is his tone;
None but he shall guide us,
  We are his alone.

Jesus is our Shepherd,
  With his goodness now,
And his tender mercy,
  He doth us endow:
Let us sing his praises
  With a gladsome heart,
Till in heaven we meet him,
  Nevermore to part.
Hugh Stowell 1799-1865
