Iesu Pryniawdwr dynol had

Jesu the Father's only Son

Iesu, Pryniawdwr dynol had,
Unig-anedig Fab y Tad,
  A chyfuwch â'i ogoniant ef
  Cyn bod goleuni
      haul y nef:

O Arglwydd, cofia it dy hun
Amdanat wisgo natur dyn,
  Pan aned di,
      yn ôl y gair,
  O'r fendigedig Forwyn Fair.

Tystiolaeth sydd yr adeg hon,
A rhed trwy gylch
    y flwyddyn gron,
  It ddod o
      fynwes fwyn y Tad
  Yn iachawdwriaeth i bob gwlad.

Y sêr, y môr, y ddaear gref,
A phob creadur dan y nef
A'th annerch di â newydd gân
  Yn Awdwr iachawdwriaeth lân.

Nyni, sydd wedi cael glanhad
Trwy rin dy gysegredig Waed,
  A dalwn deyrnged emyn rhydd
  O barch i'th enedigol ddydd.

I'r Tad sydd yn preswylio fry,
I'r Mab a aned erom ni,
I'r Ysbryd Glân, y Tri yn Un,
  Boed clod tragwyddol yn gytûn.

St Venantius (alaw Eglwysig Rouen)
Vom Himmel Hoch (Geistliche Lieder 1539)

Jesus, Redeemer of human seed,
Only-begotten Son of the Father,
And as high as his glory
  Before there was the light
      of the sun of heaven:

O Lord, remember that thou thyself
Wore around thee the nature of man,
  When thou wast born,
      according to the word,
  From the blessed Virgin Mary.

Testimony which was at that time,
And ran through the circle
    of the round year,
  That thou camest from
      the Father's gentle breast
  As salvation to every land.

The stars, the sea, the strong earth,
And every creature under heaven
Shall greet thee with a new song
  As Author of holy salvation.

We too, who have received cleansing
Through the virtue of thy sacred Blood,
Shall pay the tribute of a free hymn
Of reverence to thy natal day.

To the Father who is residing above,
To the Son who was born for our sake,
To the Holy Spirit, the Three in One,
Let there be eternal praise in agreement.
tr. 2015 Richard B Gillion
Jesu, the Father's only Son,
whose death for all redemption won,
before the worlds, of God most high,
  begotten
      all ineffably.

The Father's Light and Splendour Thou
their endless Hope to Thee that bow:
accept the prayers and praise today
that through the world Thy servants pay.

Salvation's author, call to mind
how, taking the form of humankind,
  born of a Virgin
      undefiled,
Thou in man's flesh becamest a Child.

Thus testifies the present day
Through every year
    in long array,
  that Thou,
      salvation's source alone
  proceedest from the Father's Throne.

Whence sky, and stars, and sea's abyss,
and earth, and all that therein is,
shall still, with laud and carol meet,
the Author of thine Advent greet.

And we who, by Thy precious Blood
from sin redeemed, are marked for God,
on this, the day that saw Thy Birth,
sing the new song of ransomed earth.

All honour, laud, and glory be,
O Iesu, Virgin-born, to Thee;
whom with the Father we adore,
  and Holy Ghost forevermore.
