Merciful Lord, for our land We cry unto thee; Though growing heavy from thy hand, do not let It completely ravage her. Remember the former remembrance of her, And the days of baring the arm of thy strength; Give a cry before thy host, Great resident of the bush! Merciful Lord, keep our land From turning its back on thee; Though the enemy devises its treachery, Turn her affliction away. Raise a bulwark for her quickly Against the ostenatation and shout of the wearisome deluge; After the blow, let there be a pure, delightful resting place, And praise on her lip. Merciful God, bring to our land Firmness in thee; For our virtuous inhertance Let the King of Heaven be in honour. Like vast waves of the sea May its pure, unfailing righteousness be; Holy may it be to the Sovereign Lord Amongst the nations forever.tr. 2011 Richard B Gillion |
