Mae Iesu Grist yn Brophwyd mawr

Mae Iesu Grist yn Brophwyd mawr,
  Y mwyaf yw i gyd:
Er maint ein tywyllwch, wele wawr,
  Crist yw Goleuni'r byd.

O Brophwyd mawr! i'w enw boed
  Anrhydedd a mawrhad;
Daeth â'r newyddion goreu erioed,
  Am iachawdwriaeth rad.

Mae yn amlygu pethau y ne'
  Yn eu prydferthwch coeth:
Pwy sydd yn dysgu fel Efe?
  Mae'n gwneud y ffol yn ddoeth!

O Brophwyd mawr yn Sîon sydd,
  Ti a oleuaist fyrdd;
A'th air, a'th Ysbryd, etto bydd
  I'm harwain yn dy ffyrdd.

Dwg fi, y ffolaf un a gaed,
  O'r dwfn dywyllwch du;
Gad imi eistedd wrth dy draed
  i wrandaw d'eiriau cu.

Jesus Christ is a great Prophet,
  The greatest he is altogether:
Despite our darkness, see a dawn,
  Christ is the Light of the World.

O great Prophet! to his name be
  Honour and majesty;
He brought the best news ever,
  About free salvation.

He makes evident the things of heaven
  In their exquisite beauty:
Who teaches like he does?
  He makes the foolish wise!

O great Prophet who art in Sion,
  Thou hast enlightened a myriad;
And thy word, and thy Spirit, shall yet
  Lead me in thy ways.

Bring me, the most foolish one ever had,
  From the deep black darkness;
Let me sit at thy feet
  I listen to thy dear words.
