Mi glywais lais yr Iesu'n dweud/dweyd (Tyrd ataf yr awr hon)

I heard the voice of Jesus say

Mi glywais lais yr Iesu'n dweud,
  "Tyrd ataf yr awr hon,
Flinedig un, a dod dy ben
  I orffwys ar fy mron."
Nesëais at yr Iesu mwyn,
  Yn flin, a thrist fy nghwedd,
Gorffwysfa gefais ynddo Ef,
  Llawenydd pur a hedd.

Mi glywais lais yr Iesu'n dweud,
  "'R wy'n rhoddi'n rhad, O! clyw,
Ddwfr bywiol i'r sychedig rai,
  Ymblyga, yf, bydd fyw."
At Iesu trois, ac yfais Ddwfr
  Y Bywyd ddaeth o'r nef;
F'em disychededodd, cefais nerth,
  A byw wyf ynddo Ef.

Mi glywais lais yr Iesu'n dweud,
  "Goleuni'r byw wyf Fi;
Ond edrych arnaf, cyfyd gwawr
  O ddisglair ddydd i ti."
Edrychais at yr Iesu mwyn,
  A'm Seren Ddydd yw Ef -
Fy Haul - yn ei oleuni pur
  Y rhodiaf tua'r nef.

St Matthew (William Croft 1678-1727)
Vox Dilecti (John B Dykes 1823-76)

I heard the voice of Jesus saying,
  "Come to me now,
Exhausted one, and put thy head
  To rest on my breast."
I drew near to gentle Jesus,
  Exhausted, and sad my countenance;
A resting-place I got in Him,
  Pure joy and peace.

I heard the voice of Jesus saying,
  "There is with me freely
Living water for the thirsty ones,
  Stoop, drink, be alive."
To Jesus I turned, and drank the Water
  Of Life that came from heaven;
It quenched my thirst, I got strength
  And living I am in him.

I heard the voice of Jesus saying,
  "The light of the living am I;
But look upon me, the dawn shall rise
  Of radiant day to thee."
I looked to gentle,
  And my Day Star he is -
My Sun - in his pure light
  I shall walk towards heaven.
tr. 2021 Richard B Gillion
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
  "Come unto Me and rest;
Lay down, thou weary one, lay down
  Thy head upon My breast."
I came to Jesus as I was,
  Weary and worn and sad;
I found in Him a resting place,
  And He has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
  "Behold, I freely give
The living water; thirsty one,
  Stoop down, and drink, and live."
I came to Jesus, and I drank
  Of that life giving stream;
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
  And now I live in Him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
 "I am this dark world's Light;
Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise,
  And all thy day be bright."
I looked to Jesus, and I found
  In Him my Star, my Sun;
And in that light of life I'll walk,
  Till travelling days are done.
