Mae Eglwys Dduw fel dinas wych

(Tegwch Seion)
Mae Eglwys Dduw fel dinas wych,
  Yn deg i edrych arni;
Ei sail sydd berl godidog iawn,
  A'i mur o ddawnus feini.

Rhodiwn o gylch Caersalem bur,
  Gan draethu'i heglur degwch;
Ystyriwn ei rhagfuriau drud,
  Tra nerthol, a'i phrydferthwch.

Awn trwy'r heolydd
    aur ar frys,
  I'r hynod lŷs breninol;
Lle gwelir mewn gogoniant mawr
  Yr Iesu gwerthfawr grasol.

Llawenydd yr holl ddaear hon
  Yw mynydd Sion sanctaidd;
Preswylfa anwyl Brenin nef
  Yw Salem efengylaidd.

Ni glywsom ogoneddus air,
  I'r ddinas ddysglaer lonydd:
A phethau mawrion yn ddi-os,
  Wnaeth Duw tros Sion ddedwydd.

Ei gwarchod mae ei Cheidwad mawr
  Bob mynyd awr yn dirion;
A'i gweiniaid yn ei law a ddwg,
  Gan ladd ei drwg elynion.

Gwyn fyd ei dinasyddion sydd
  Yn rhodio'n rhydd ar hyd-ddi;
Y nefol fraint i ninnau rho,
  O Dduw, i drigo ynddi.
berl godidog iawn :: berl o ddirfawr bris :: berl odidog werth

(The fairness of Zion)
The Church of God is like a brilliant city,
  Fair to look upon;
Its foundation is an very excellent pearl,
  And its wall of skilfully crafted stones.

Let us stroll around pure Jerusalem,
  Expounding her clear fairness;
Let us consider her costly ramparts,
  So strong, and her beauty.

 Let us go through the streets
    of gold at once,
  To the remarkable royal court;
Where is to be seen in great glory
  The valuably gracious Jesus.

The joy of all this earth
  Is holy mount Zion;
The dear residence of the King of heaven
  Is evangelical Salem.

We heard a glorious word,
  To the radiant, cheerful city:
And great things undisputedly,
  Did God for happy Zion.

WAtching over her is her great Saviour
  Every minute tenderly;
And her servant he will lead in his hand,
  Slaying her wicked enemies.

Blessed are her citizens
  Walking free all along her;
The heavenly privilege to us too give,
  O God, to dwell in her.
very excellent pearl :: pearl of enormous price :: pearl of exceptional worth
skilfully crafted :: beautiful
::
us too :: me too
to dwell :: to tarry
