Mae y ffordd yn flin i'w theithio

Mae y ffordd yn flin i'w theithio,
Mae Dy blant ymron diffygio, -
  Rho Dy wyneb, nefol Dad:
Dyro'th Ysbryd i addoli;
Dangos eto Dy ddaioni,
  A rhinwedda'th gariad rhad.

Mae cymylau ein pechodau
Wedi duo uwch ein pennau, -
  Gwena drwyddynt, Arglwydd mawr:
Dyrcha arnom wedd Dy wyneb,
Nes y gwelom anfarwoldeb
  Drwy'r cymylau'n dod i lawr.

Arglwydd, agor ein calonnau,
Tywallt iddynt Dy feddyliau
  Sydd yn llawn goleuni glân:
Rho Dy ras i ddifa'n llygredd,
Arwain ni yn Dy dangnefedd
  I ardalau'r nefol gân.

The way is grievous to travel,
Thy children are almost fainting, -
  Grant Thy face, heavenly Father:
Give thy Spirit to worship;
Show again Thy goodness,
  And the merit of thy free love.

The clouds of our sins have
Blackened above our heads, -
  Smile through them, great Lord:
Lift upon us the countenance of thy face,
Until we see immortality
  Through the clouds coming down.

Lord, open our hearts,
Pour into them Thy thoughts
  Which are full of holy light:
Grant Thy grace to destroy corruption,
Lead us in Thy peace
  To the regions of heavenly song.
