Mawr yw enw'r Iesu

Mawr yw enw'r Iesu,
  Plygwn iddo'n awr,
Brysiwn i'w gyffesu'n
  Frenin nef a llawr.
Galwer Ef yn Arglwydd,
  Dyna iaith y nef,
O! mae'r Tad yn hoffi
  Pawb a'i barchant Ef!

Daeth o'r nef i'r ddaear
 I gael enw cu,
Oddiar wefusau
  Pechadurus lu;
Gwisgodd ef hyd angeu,
  Heb lychwino'i wedd;
A thrwy ddwyfol goncwest
  Dygodd ef o'r bedd.

Enwer Ef, fy mrodyr,
  Enwer Ef yn awr,
Gyda gwylder sanctaidd
  Gyda hoffder mawr:
Ein Gwaredwr ydyw!
  Seinied pawb ei glod,
Teilwng yw o'n moliant;
  Tra bo'r nef yn bod.

Great is the name of Jesus,
  Let us bow to Him now,
Let us hurry to confess Him as
  King of heaven and earth.
He is to be called Lord,
  That is the language of heaven,
O, the Father loves
  All who revere Him!

He came from heaven to the earth
  To get a dear name,
From the lips
  Of a sinful host;
He wore it as far as death,
  Without sullying its form;
And through a divine conquest
  He brought it from the grave.

Name Him, my brothers,
  Name Him now,
With sacred reverence,
  With great affection:
Our Deliverer He is!
  Let everyone sound his acclaim,
Worthy He is of our praise;
  While ever heaven endures.

At the name of Jesus,
  Every knee shall bow,
Every tongue confess Him
  King of glory now;
'Tis the Father's pleasure
  We should call Him Lord,
Who from the beginning
  Was the mighty Word.

Humbled for a season,
  To receive a name
From the lips of sinners
  Unto whom He came,
Faithfully He bore it,
  Spotless to the last,
Brought it back victorious
  When from death He passed.

Name Him, brothers, name Him,
  With love strong as death
But with awe and wonder,
  And with bated breath!
He is God the Saviour,
  He is Christ the Lord,
Ever to be worshipped,
  Trusted and adored.
