Mi âf yn mlaen er pelled yw

(Nerth o Dduw)
Mi âf y'mlaen er pelled yw,
I'r wlad 'rwy' am fyn'd iddi fyw;
  O'r diwedd tiria'm henaid gwan,
  O ddyfnder moroedd mawr i'r làn.

Anialwch mawr, mi aethum trwy,
Paham y digalonaf mwy?
  Yr hwn a'm nerthodd hyd yn hyn
  A'm dwg i'r lan
      i ben y bryn.

Er i mi, do, wrthgilio'n wael,
A cholli'r heddwch, wedi ei gael,
  O Dduw! iacha fi, câr fi'n rhad,
  A chàna'm henaid yn dy waed.

Os na chaf dy gymdeithas wiw
Mae'n uffern yn y byd i fyw;
  'Does bleser dan y nef,
      pe cawn,
  All lanw'm calon oll yn llawn.

Can mil o weithiau gwyn fy myd
Pe cawn orchfygu 'meiau i gyd,
  A bod yn bur, o fewn, o faes,
  A darfod son am bechod cas.

(Strength from God)
I will go forward despite how far it is,
To the land where I am going to live;
  Eventually my weak soul will land,
  Up from the depths of great seas.

A great desert, I went through,
Why shall I be down-hearted any more?
  He who strengthened me thus far
  Shall bring me up
      to the head of the hill.

Despite me, yes, who retreated basely,
And lost the peace, after having got it,
  O God, heal me, love me graciously,
  And bleach my soul in thy blood.

If I do not get thy worthy fellowship
It is hell in the world to live;
  There is no pleasure under heaven,
      if I had it,
  That could fill my heart all full.

A hundred thousand of times blessed am I
If I could get to overcome all my sins,
  And be pure, within, without,
  And mention of hated sin vanish.
tr. 2016 Richard B Gillion
