Mi gefais gan mewn gofid, Llawenydd yn lle braw; Daeth tranoeth teg a hyfryd, A haul ar ol y gwlaw; Ces gangen a bereiddia Bob dyfroedd chwerwau'u rhyw, Pob tant toredig seinia Gan bêr addewid Duw. Mi gefais lawn hosanna, Yn lle pob croes a chur; O'r nef mi gefais fanna, Nes cyrhaedd Canaan dir; Ces ddwr o Graig yr oesoedd, Mewn cras anialwch maith; Yn Elim cefais orphwys, Ar ol blinedig daith. Ces ddwr adfywiol Elim Rhag poethder tanbaid iawn; Pan gwywai'r tyner flagur, Ces yma fendith lawn; Ar gwmwl du fy nagrau Mi welais enfys Duw; O'm golwg mae'r gogoniant - Ond O mor agos yw! O'th gaffael di, fy Ngheidwad, Daw i mi'r gan a'r balm, - Yr iechyd a'r bendithion, Yr heulwen deg a'r psalm; Addewid gref i'r ofnus, Ac Elim fwyn i'r gwan, Y bwa i'r galarus, A nefoedd yn y man.efel. I got a song in grief, Joy instead of terror; A fair and lovely morrow, Brought sun after the rain; I got a branch which sweetens All waters of a bitter kind, Every broken string that sounds With the sweet promise of God. I got a full hosanna, Instead of every cross and pain; From heaven I got manna, Until reaching Canaan land; I got water from the Rock of ages, In a vast, roasting desert; In Elim I got to rest, After a wearying journey. I got the reviving water of Elim Against very fiery heat; When the tender shoot was wilting, I got a full blessing here; On the black cloud of my tears I saw God's rainbow; Out of my sight is the glory - But O how near it is! From thy grasp, my Saviour, Come to me the song and the balm, - The health and the blessings, The fair sunshine and the psalm; A strong promise to the fearful, And a gentle Elim for the weak, The bow to the mournful, And heaven soon.tr. 2019 Richard B Gillion |
I've found a joy in sorrow, A secret balm for pain, A beautiful tomorrow Of sunshine after rain; I've found a branch of healing Near every bitter spring; A whispered promise stealing O'er every broken string. I've found a glad hosanna For every woe and wail; A handful of sweet manna when grapes of Eschol fail. I've found a Rock of Ages When desert wells are dry; And, after weary stages, I've found an Elim nigh. An Elim with its coolness, Its fountains, and its shade; A blessing in its fullness, When buds of promise fade. O'er tears of soft contrition I've seen a rainbow light, A glory and fruition, So near! yet out of sight. My Saviour, Thee possessing, I have the joy, the balm, The healing and the blessing, The sunshine and the psalm; The promise for the fearful, The Elim for the faint; The rainbow for the tearful, The glory for the saint!Jane F Crewdson 1808-63 A Little While and Other Poems 1864 Tune [7676D]: Crewdson (Ira D Sankey 1840-1908) |
