Ni fedd angylion er eu bri

(Cyfiawnder Crist)
Ni fedd angylion,
    er eu bri,
Na neb o'r holl seraphiaid fry,
  Na holl alluoedd maith y nef,
  Un haeddiant fel ei haeddiant ef.

Os daw y gyfraith yn ei grym,
A gofyn am berffeithrwydd im,
  Does geny' ond dangos
      angeu loes,
  A gwaed yn llifo ar y groes.

Fy haeddiant mawr yn nghanol ne',
Yw Iesu'n feichiau yn fy lle;
  A'i boenau ef yn unig sydd
  Yn gwneyd yr orsedd wen yn rhydd.

Mae ynddo hefyd allu mawr
I gael fy meiau mwya'i lawr;
  Ei holl ddoethineb ef, a'i ras,
  O rwydau'r ddraig
      a'm tyn i maes.
William Williams 1717-91

  Fy haeddiant mawr yn nghanol ne'
  Mae rhyw ddirgelwch llawer mwy
  O Arglwydd cofia'th angeu drud
  Troseddodd Adda pen pob dyn

(The Righteousness of Christ)
Angels do not possess,
    despite their renown,
Nor any of all the seraphim above,
  Nor all the vast powers of heaven,
  Any merit like his merit.

If the law comes in its force,
And asks for perfection from me,
  I have nothing but to show
      the throes of death,
  And the blood that flowed on the cross.

My great merit in the midst of heaven,
Is Jesus as a surety in my place;
  And his pains alone are
  Making the white throne free.

In him is also great power
To bring my greatest faults down;
  All his wisdom, and his grace,
  From the dragon's bonds
      shall pull me out.
tr. 2017 Richard B Gillion
