'Dwi'n dysgwyl cael o fewn y byd
Nid wyf yn dysgwyl yn y byd

(Y byd yn siomedig)
'Dwi'n dysgwyl cael o fewn y byd,
Ond siomedigaeth oll i gyd;
  Pa ham dych'mygai ynddo ef,
  Well triniaeth na
      ga'dd Brenin nef?

O Iesu fy Iachawdwr mawr,
Rho im' dy fendith bur i lawr;
  A rho i mi tra bydd wyf byw,
  Dy hoff gymdeithas felys wiw.

Fel pan bo terfysg neu rhyw wae,
Yn d'od i'm gwydd, ac yn parâu;
  Boed f'enaid t'lawd
      heb fraw na phoen,
  Yn byw er clod i'r addfwyn Oen.

Ffarwel i'r byd
    a'i gystudd blin,
Ei barch ai olud yn gyttun;
  'Dyw ei anrhydedd, mwy na'i wae,
  Ond megys munyd yn parâu.
Caniadau Bethel (Casgliad Evan Edwards) 1840

Nid wyf yn dysgwyl yn y byd
Ond siomedigaeth oll i gyd;
  Paham gobeithiaf ynddo ef,
  Well triniaeth na
    cha'dd Brenin nef?

Paham edrychaf ar un llaw,
Heb neges yma 'rwyf na thraw,
  Mae'm rhan a'm neges mewn gwlad
  Sydd yn dragwyddol ei pharhad.

O Iesu, fy Iachawdwr mawr,
Dyfera fendith bur i lawr,
  Fel bo 'nifyrwch tra f'wyf byw,
  Yn dy gymdeithas felus, wiw.

Fel pan bo terfysg,
    pan bo gwae,
Oll yn cynyddu, yn parhau;
  Boed f'enaid i, heb fraw na phoen,
  Yn llechu'n mynwes addfwyn Oen.
Casgliad o Hymnau (Calfinaidd) 1859

[Mesur: MH 8888]

gwelir: O Iesu fy Iachawdwr mawr

(The world disappointing)
I am expecting to get within the world,
But all disappointment altogether;
  Why would I imagine in it,
  Better treatment than
      the King of heaven got?

O Jesus my great Saviour,
Send down to me thy pure blessing;
  And give me while ever I am living,
  Thy dear, sweet, worthy fellowship.

When there be tumult or some woe,
Coming to meet me, and continuing;
  May my poor soul be
      without terror or pain,
  Living for praise to the gentle Lamb.

Farewell to the world
    and its grievous affliction,
Its reverence and its wealth together;
  Its honour, no more than its woe,
  Is enduring but for a minute.

                 - - - - -

I am not expecting anything in the world,
But all disappointment altogether;
  Why shall I hope in it,
  Better treatment than
     the King of heaven got?

Why shall I look on either hand,
Without a message here I am or there,
  My portion and my message are in a land
  Which is eternally enduring.

O Jesus, my great Saviour,
Distil a pure blessing down,
  That my comfort while ever I live may be
  In thy sweet, worthy fellowship.

Thus when there be tumult,
    when there be woe,
All increasing, continuing;
  May my soul be, without terror or pain,
  Hiding in the bosom of the gentle Lamb.
