O f'enaid deffro cân yn awr

Awake my soul and with the sun

(Emyn Foreuol)
O! f'enaid, deffro, cân yn awr,

Fel adar achub flaen y wawr;

  Os mawl a berthyn iddynt hwy,

  Perthyn i mi
      fil miloedd mwy.

Fy nyled fawr feunyddiol yw

Talu ufuddaf glod i Dduw;

  A phob rhyw awr y byddwyf fi,

  Gweddi a mawl sy'n gweddu i mi.

Fy Mhrynwr yw, mae'n haeddu cael

Y blaenffrwyth o'm gwasanaeth gwael

  Am drugareddau rhad heb ri',

  Gweddi a mawl sy'n gweddu i mi.

Beth os yw poen a chroesau'r byd

Fel ton ar don, yn curo o hyd;

  Er maint fy mlinder oll a'm cri,

  Gweddi a mawl sy'n gweddu i mi.

I Dad y trugareddau i gyd

Rhown foliant,
    holl drigolion byd;

  Llu'r nef, moliennwch Ef ar gân,

  Y Tad, a'r Mab,
      a'r Ysbryd Glân.

(Morning Hymn)
O my soul, awake, sing now!

Like birds anticipate the dawn!

  If praise belongs to them,

  It belongs to me
      a thousand thousand times more.

My great daily duty is

To pay most obedient praise to God;

  And every kind of hour while I be,

  It is prayer and praise which befits me.

My Redeemer he is, he deserves to get

The first-fruit of my base service

  For free mercies without number,

  It is prayer and praise which befits me.

What is pain and the world's crosses are,

Like wave upon wave, beating always;

  Despite all my affliction and my crying,

  It is prayer and praise which befits me.

To the father of all mercies

Let us render praise,
    all inhabitants of the world;

  The host of heaven, praise Him with song,

  The Father, and the Son,
      and the Holy Spirit.

And every kind of hour :: While living in the world
all my affliction and my cry :: my affliction and my cry

tr. 2010 Richard B Gillion

Awake, my soul, and with the sun
Thy daily stage of duty run;
Shake off dull sloth, and joyful rise,
To pay thy morning sacrifice.

Thy precious time misspent, redeem,
Each present day thy last esteem,
Improve thy talent with due care;
For the great day thyself prepare.

By influence of the Light divine
Let thy own light to others shine.
Reflect all Heavens propitious ways
In ardent love, and cheerful praise.

In conversation be sincere;
Keep conscience as the noontide clear;
Think how all seeing God thy ways
And all thy secret thoughts surveys.

Wake, and lift up thyself, my heart,
And with the angels bear thy part,
Who all night long unwearied sing
High praise to the eternal King.

All praise to Thee, who safe has kept
And hast refreshed me while I slept
Grant, Lord, when I from death shall wake
I may of endless light partake.

Heav'n is, dear Lord, where'er Thou art,
O never then from me depart;
For to my soul 'tis hell to be
But for one moment void of Thee.

Lord, I my vows to Thee renew;
Disperse my sins as morning dew.
Guard my first springs of thought and will,
And with Thyself my spirit fill.

Direct, control, suggest, this day,
All I design, or do, or say,
That all my powers, with all their might,
In Thy sole glory may unite.

I would not wake nor rise again
And Heaven itself I would disdain,
Wert Thou not there to be enjoyed,
And I in hymns to be employed.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
