O'r holl hanesion wyddom ni

O'r holl hanesion wyddom ni,
  Y llawnaf un o swyn,
Yw hanes Iesu'n faban bach
  Mor dirion ac mor fwyn.

Pan anwyd ef ym Methlem draw,
  Fe glywyd côr y nef
Yn canu yn ardderchog iawn
  Ei glodydd rhyfedd ef.

I'r lle gorweddai'n faban glân
  Yng ngofal tad a mam,
Daeth dwys fugeiliaid gyda'r wawr
  I weld 'r un bach di-nam.

Rhyfeddu wnaethant wrth ei weld
  A chanmol Duw mewn hedd,
Am eni Ceidwad mawr y byd,
  Â bywyd yn ei wedd.

Tôn [MC 8686]: Yr Iesu'n Faban (John T Rees 1857-1949)

Of all the stories we know,
The one most full of charm,
Is the story of Jesus as a little baby
  So tender and so gentle.

When he was born in yonder Bethlehem,
The choir of heaven was heard
Singing very marvellously
  His wonderful acclaim.

To the place where he lay as a holy baby
In the care of a father and mother,
Came solemn shepherds with the dawn
To see the little innocent one.

They wonder on seeing him,
  And extol God in peace,
For the birth of the world's great Saviour,
  With life in his countenance.
tr. 2023 Richard B Gillion
