O 'r môr anghydmarol

(Y Cyfammod)
O! 'r môr anghydmarol
    anfeidrol ei faint.
O ddefnydd cysuron
    i Sion a'r saint,
  Sydd in y Cyfammod
      yn bod i bob un,
  Holl gyfoeth y Duwdod
      yn dyfod i'r dyn.

Os rhaid dringo'r creigydd draw
    sydd yn dra serth,
Ond myn'd i'r Cyfammod
    mewn nychdod, cawn nerth;
  Mae'n hwn yr addewid,
      mewn gwendid i'r gwael,
  Wir nerth ac ymgeledd
      ddigonol i'w gael.
Edward Jones 1761-1836

[Mesur: 11.11.11.11]

(The Covenant)
Oh, the incomparable sea
    immeasurable its vastness!
Oh, comforting theme
    to Zion and the saints,
  Which in the Covenant
      there is for every one,
  The whole wealth of the Godhead
      devoted to the man.

If there is need to climb yonder rocks
    which are so steep,
But go to the Covenant
    in debility, we may get strength;
  In this there is the promise,
      in weakness to the wretched,
  True strength and sufficient
      help is had.
tr. 2015 Richard B Gillion
