O Ysbryd Glân Ddiddanydd mwyn

(Gweddi am yr Yspryd)
O Ysbryd Glân! Ddiddanydd mwyn
  Trallodus ac annheilwng rai,
Nac ymbellhâ,
    er cymaint cŵyn
  A thristwch i Ti bair fy mai;
Mae'th hir amynedd gyda mi
Yn dweyd mor gryf yw'th gariad Di.

Afluniaidd yw fy nghalon ddu,
  Heb arwydd bywyd ynddi'n awr:
O aros, aros, Yspryd cu,
  I'w dwyn i drefn
      â'th fywiol wawr; -
Gwnêst lawer calon mor ddi lun
Yn gymwys deml i Ti Dy hun.

I'r gair sancteiddiol tywys fi,
  Ac o'i oleuni gwna fi'n llawn;
Datguddia imi Grist a'i fri,
  A gwyna fi'n llon
      â'i ddwyfol ddawn:
Fel hwy sy'n llawen yn y nef,
Gwna finnau ar Ei ddelw Ef.

Tôn [88.88.88]:
St Matthias (William H Monk 1823-89)

(Prayer for the Spirit)
O Holy Spirit, gentle Comforter
  Of troubled and unworthy ones,
Do not distance thyself,
    despite how much complaint
  And sadness my fault causes thee;
Thy long patience with me
Says how strong is thy love.

Disordered is my black heart,
  With no sign of life in it now:
O stay, stay, dear Spirit,
  To bring it to order
      with thy lively dawn; -
Thou hast made many an unattractive heart
Into a fitting temple for thyself.

To the sacred word lead thou me,
  And with its light make me full;
Reveal to me Christ and his renown,
  And make me cheerful
      with his divine gift:
Like those who are joyful in heaven,
Make me also after his image.
