O dan y groes 'rwy'n gruddfan
  Yn chwerw nos a dydd;
Ond yn y groes mae 'mywyd,
  Ac yn y groes mae'm fydd;
Ar bwys y groes mi ddringaf
  I'r drigfan ddedwydd draw,
Ac am y groes mi ganaf
  Yn beraidd maes o law.

Trwy'r groes y daeth trugaredd
  I gadw euog ddyn;
Trwy'r groes y daeth cyfiawnder
  A heddwch yn gytun;
Trwy'r groes fe ddisgyn Duwdod
  I godi llwch y llawr;
Am hyny mi ymffrostiaf
  Yn nghroes fy IESU mawr.

Under the cross I am groaning
  Bitterly night and day;
But in the cross is my life,
  And in the cross is my faith;
Leaning on the cross I will climb
  To the happy residence yonder,
And about the cross I will sing
  Sweetly soon.

Through the cross came mercy
  To preserve guilty man;
Through the cross came righteousness
  And peace to agreement;
Through the cross Divinity descended
  To raise the dust of the ground;
Therefore I will boast
  In the cross of my great JESUS.
