O henffych i Fab Dafydd

Hail to the Lord's Anointed

(Llwyddiant teyrnas Crist)
O! henffych i Fab Dafydd,
  Eneiniog Arglwydd Iôr!
Ei deyrnas a ymledo
  Dros gyrau tir a môr:
Fe ddaw i ddryllio rhwymau,
  A dwyn y caeth yn rhydd;
Tangnefedd a deyrnasa,
 Daw tywell nos yn ddydd.

Anwariaid o Arabia
  A'i gwir addolant Ef,
A lluoedd o Ethiopia
  Ddyrchafant ato'u llef;
Daw llongau o'r ynysoedd
  A'r gemau goreu gaed,
I dywallt cyfoeth moroedd
  Yn deyrnged wrth ei draed.

Breninoedd a addolant
  Yn isel ger ei fron,
A'r pethau goreu feddant
  A roddant iddo'n llon:
Daw holl genhedloedd daear
  Yn isel wrth ei draed,
I'w foli am ei gariad,
  A chanu am ei waed.

Ei enw mawr fydd beunydd
  Yn uchel îs y nef;
Tylwythau'r byd yn ufudd
  A'i gwir ddyrchafant Ef:
Tra byddo haul yn t'wynu
  Dros wyneb daear lawr,
Bydd enw anwyl Iesu
  Yn cael gogoniant mawr.

(The prosperity of the kingdom of Christ)
O hail to the Son of David!
  The Lord's anointed Lord!
His kingdom shall extend
  Across the corners of land and sea:
He comes to smash bonds,
  And lead the captive free;
Peace shall reign
  The darkness of night shall become day.

Savages from Arabia
  Shall truly worship him,
And hosts from Ethiopia
  Shall raise to him their cry;
Ships shall come from the islands
  With the best gems there are,
To pour the wealth of the seas
  As tribute at his feet.

Kings shall worship
  Lowly before him,
And the best things they possess
  They shall give to him cheerfully:
All the nations of the earth shall come
  Lowly at his feet,
To praise him for his love,
  And sing about his blood.

His great name shall be daily
  Loud under heaven;
The tribes of the world obediently
  Shall truly exalt him:
While ever the sun be shining
  Across the face of earth below,
The name of dear Jesus shall be
  Getting great glory.
tr. 2019 Richard B Gillion

Hail to the Lord's anointed,
  Great David's greater Son!
Hail in the time appointed,
  His reign on earth begun!
He comes to break oppression,
  To set the captive free;
To take away transgression,
  And rule in equity.

Arabia's desert ranger
  To Him shall bow the knee;
The Ethiopian stranger
  His glory come to see;
With offerings of devotion
  Ships from the isles shall meet,
To pour the wealth of oceans
  In tribute at His feet.

Kings shall fall down before Him,
  And gold and incense bring;
All nations shall adore Him,
  His praise all people sing;
For He shall have dominion
  O'er river, sea and shore,
Far as the eagle's pinion
  Or dove's light wing can soar.

O'er every foe victorious,
  He on His throne shall rest;
From age to age more glorious,
  All blessing and all blest.
The tide of time shall never
  His covenant remove;
His name shall stand forever,
  His new blest name of Love.
