O pwy all beidio â chanu?

O! pwy all beidio â chanu
  A chanu mewn boddhad
Tra fyddo sŵn telynau'r nef
  Mor beraidd yn y wlad?
Anthemau'r dwyfol gariad,
  A ddysgwyd ar y bryn,
A glywir gyda'r awel fwyn
  Yn croesi dros y glyn.

    Mae'r Iesu eto'n galw,
      Ac ar ei ôl yr awn,
    Eisteddwn yn ei gysgod byth,
      A chanu, canu wnawn.

O! pwy all beidio â dilyn
  Anwylaf Geidwad dyn?
Yng nghanol gofid ing a gwae,
  Mae'n Gyfaill byth a lŷn;
Dilynodd Ef y crwydryn,
  A'i geisio bu yn hir:
Ac aros mae ei ddafnau gwaed
  Ar ddrain yr anial dir.

O! pwy all beidio â'i fanmol
  Am ddioddef dros y byd?
A gwneud y ffordd at orsedd Duw
  Yn olau ar ei hyd;
Hyfrydwch gan angylion
  Wrth gofio am a wnaed,
Yw bwrw eu coronau aur
  Yn ufudd wrth ei draed.
Evan Rees (Dyfed) 1850-1923

Tôn [7686T]:
    O pwy all beidio â chanu? (David Evans 1874-1948)

Oh, who can refrain from singing,
  And singing in satisfaction
While there is the sound of heaven's harps
  So sweet in the country?
Anthems of divine love,
  Which were learned on the hill,
Are to be heard with the gentle breeze
  Crossing over the valley.

    Jesus is calling still,
      And after him we go,
    Let us sit in his shade forever,
      And sing, let us sing.

Oh, who can refrain from following
  The dearest Saviour of man?
In the midst of grief, pang and woe,
  He is a Friend who will always stick;
He followed the wanderer,
  And seeking him was long:
And remain do his drops of blood
  On the thorns of the desert land.

Oh, who can refrain from praising him
  For suffering for the world?
And making the way to the throne of God
  Light all along it;
The delight of the angels
  On remembering what he has done,
Is throwing their golden crowns
  Obediently at his feet.
