O tyred Arglwydd mawr (Bydd yma yn ein plith)

(Ar Ddechrau'r Ysgol)
  O tyred, Arglwydd mawr,
    Bydd yma yn ein plith,
  A thywallt ras i lawr
    Yn fendith nefol wlith:
O! ennyn ynom Ddwyfol ddawn,
I ddysgu D'Air, a'th foli'n iawn.

  Ein Hathraw mawr o'r nef
    Fo'n amlwg yn ein mysg,
  A dawn Ei Ysbryd Ef
    A roddo inni ddysg:
O! rhodiwn ffordd y nef heb goll,
Athrawon a disgyblion oll.

  Agoriad D'eiriau Di
    A rydd oleuni clir
  Ar hyd ein llwybrau ni,
    Trwy daith yr anial dir;
Trwy D'Ysbryd agor, Iesu mawr,
Ein deall yn Dy Air yn awr.

(At the Start of School)
  O come, great Lord,
    Be here amongst us,
  And pour down grace
As a blessing of heavenly dew:
Oh enkindle in us a Divine gift,
To teach Thy word, and thy praise truly!

May our great teacher from heaven
    Be evident in our midst,
And the gift of His Spirit
    Impart to us learning:
Oh let us travel the way
      to heaven without loss,
Teachers and pupils all!

  The key of Thy words
    Will give a clear light
  Along our paths,
    Through the journey of the desert land;
Through Thy Spirit open, great Jesus,
Our understanding in Thy Word now!
tr. 2010 Richard B Gillion
