O ynfyd anghrediniaeth

O ynfyd anghrediniaeth,
    rhoi'st imi lawer briw,
Taw son, gād lonydd imi,
    mae'r Iesu eto'n fyw;
  Fe agor byrth dy garchar,
      fe ddaw a'r caeth yn rhydd,
  Fe wna i'r cloff i neidio
      a llamu fel yr hydd.

Llefaraist anghrediniaeth,
    do wrthyf lawer gwaith,
Mai marw fyddai niwedd,
    cyn myn'd i ben fy nhaith;
  Fe ddywed ffydd, er gwaned,
      y cāf feddiannu'r wlad;
  Dy waethaf, anghrediniaeth!
      fe'm golchwyd yn y gwaed.
Dafydd William 1720-94

[Mesur: 7676D]

O foolish unbelief,
    thou gavest me many a bruise,
Be quiet, let me have stillness,
    Jesus is still alive;
  He will open the gates of thy prison,
      he will bring the captive free,
  He will make the lame jump
      and leap like the deer.

Thou hast said, unbelief,
    yes, to me many a time,
That death would be my end,
    before getting to my journey's end;
  Faith says, despite being so weak,
      I will get to possess the land;
  Thy worst, unbelief!
      I was washed in the blood.
tr. 2016 Richard B Gillion
