Os rhaid yfed dyfroedd Mara(h)

(Gwaredigaeth)
Os rhaid yfed dyfroedd Mara,
Mewn anial blin
    tra paro 'ngyrfa,
  O nertha di,
     (fy Nhad, a'm Harglwydd,)
  Fy ysbryd gwan mewn
      byd o dramgwydd. [DM]

Er cael fy nghuro
    yn nhrigfau dreigiau,
Suddo'n fynych dan y tonau;
  Fe ddaw'r hyfryd
      ddedwydd wawr-ddydd,
  Na welir t'wyllwch
      yn dragywydd. [G1]

Yno y derfydd fy nghystuddiau,
Troir fy ngalar yn ganiadau;
  Yn lle Mara a'i dw'r anhyfryd,
  Câf yfed byth
      o afon bywyd. [MR]

Doed a ddelo, tra b'wyf yma,
Rho'f fy hun yn llaw Jehofa:
  Efe yw Ffynnon iechydwriaeth,
  Sy'n golchi'n lân bob llygredigaeth. [G1]

O na welwn ddydd yn dyfod,
I'm henaid eiddil gael gollyngdod,
  O swn y rhyfel
      a'r cystuddiau,
  A myn'd i mewn i'r pur drigfanau. [G1]

Gwlad tu hwnt i gyraeddiadau,
Satan ddewr a'i demtasiynau;
  Sydd wedi ei rhoddi yn yr arfaeth
  I'm henaid gwan yn etifeddiaeth. [G1]

Os rhaid yfed dyfroedd Mara
Mewn anial blin
    tra paro 'ngyrfa:
  O nertha di, fy Nhad a'm Harglwydd,
  F'yspryd gwan mewn
      byd o dramgwydd. [DM]

Daccw'r ffynnon bur hawddgara',
A gannodd filoedd fel yr eira,
  Daccw'r dwr'r mi gwympaf iddo,
  A deued i mi fel y delo. [G3]

'Rwy' fi'n myn'd i wlad i drigo,
Lle mae gloyw hedd yn llifo,
  At gyfeillion mil
      mwy hawddgar,
  Na neb a welwyd ar y ddaear. [G3]

Yno y derfydd fy nghystuddiau,
Troir fy ngalar yn ganiadau;
  Yn lle Mara a'i dw'r anhyfryd,
  Câf yfed byth
      o afon bywyd. [MR]

Os rhaid yfed dyfroedd Mara,
Yn yr anial ar fy ngyrfa,
  Nertha di, fy Nhad a'm Harglwydd,
  F'ysbryd gwan mewn
      byd o dramgwydd. [DM]

Er fy nghuro 'n
    nhrigfa dreigiau,
Suddo'n fynych dan y tonau;
  Fe ddaw'r hyfryd
      ddedwydd wawrddydd,
  Heb dywyllwch yn dragywydd. [MD]

Yna derfydd fy nghystuddiau,
Troir fy ngalar yn ganiadau;
  Yn lle Mara ddŵr anhyfryd,
  Yfed câf o
      afon bywyd. [MR]

Os rhaid yfed dyfroedd Marah
Yn yr anial ar fy ngyrfa,
  Nertha Di, fy Nhad a'm Harglwydd,
  F'ysbryd gwàn mewn
      byd o dramgwydd. [DM]

Tra rhaid imi wisgo'r arfau,
Dwyn y groes trwy orthrymderau,
  Rho Dy gwmni - dyna ddigon,
  Nes myn'd adre' i wisgo'r goron. [G2]

Yno derfydd fy nghystuddiau,
Troir fy ngalar yn ganiadau;
  Yn lle Marah, ddwfr anhyfryd,
  Yfed gâf o
      afon bywyd. [MR]

'N awr wrth gofio'r hên Iorddonen,
F'enaid athrist gân yn llawen,
  Âf ar fỳr i'r
      wlad na dderfydd
  Llawn orfoledd yn dragywydd. [MR]

(Deliverance)
If I must drink the waters of Mara,
In a grievous desert
    while my course continues,
  O strengthen thou,
      (my Father and my Lord,)
  My weak spirit in a
      world of transgression.

Although getting beaten
    in the dwellings of dragons,
Sinking often under the waves;
  The delightful, happy
      dawn of day shall come,
  When darkness is not
      to be seen for eternity.

Then shall end my afflictions,
My lamenting is to be turned into songs;
  Instead of Mara and its unpleasant water,
  I shall get to drink forever
      from the river of life.

Come what may, while ever I live here,
I will put myself in the hand of Jehovah:
  He is the Fount of salvation,
  That washes clean all corruption.

O that I may see a day coming,
For my feeble soul to get release,
  From the sound of the war
      and the afflictions,
  And go into the pure dwellings.

A land beyond the reaches,
Of bold Satan and his temptations;
  Which is appointed in the scheme
  For my weak soul as an inheritance.

If I must drink the waters of Mara
In a grievous desert
    while my course continues,
  O strengthen thou, my Father and my Lord,
  My weak spirit in a
      world of transgression.

Yonder is the pure, most beautiful fount,
Which bleached thousands like the snow,
  Yonder is the water I will fall into,
  And let come to me what may.

I am going to a land to reside,
Where shining peace is flowing,
  To friends a thousand
      times more handsome,
  Than any seen on the earth.

There shall end my afflictions,
My lamenting is to be turned into songs;
  Instead of Mara and its upleasant water,
  I shall get to drink forever
      from the river of life.

                - - - - -

If I must drink the waters of Mara
In the desert on my course,

  My weak spirit in a

Although being beaten in

Sinking often under the waves;

If I must drink the waters of Marah
In the desert on my course,
  Strengthen Thou, my Father and my Lord,
  My weak spirit in a
      world of transgression.

While I must wear weapons,
Carry the cross through oppressions,
  Grant thy company - that is sufficient,
  Until I go home to wear the crown.

There shall end my afflictions,
My lamenting is to be turned into songs;
  Instead of Marah, unpleasant water,
  I shall get to drink from
      the river of life.

Now on remembering the old Jordan,
My sad soul will sing joyfully,
  I will go shortly to the
      land that will not end
  Full of jubilation eternally.
