Pa dorf, mewn brys a phryder mawr, Yw hon sy'n myned heibio'n awr? Torfeydd sy'n dod o ddydd i ddydd; Pa swn dieithriol yma sydd? Y dyrfa'n ddistaw ddwedant wrtho: "Iesu o Nazareth sy'n myn'd heibio." Pwy ydyw, Iesu? O ba le Mae'n gallu llwyr gynhyrfu'r dre'? Pa nerth, pa rin sydd ynddo ef Pan ddaw i'w ganlyn dorf mor gref? Y dyrfa'n ddistaw ddwedant wrtho: "Iesu o Nazareth sy'n myn'd heibio." Iesu! Efe a ddaeth i lawr O'r nef at dlodion llymion llawr; Mae'n rhoddi nerth i'r gwan ar gwyw, Mae'n codi'r marw eto'n fyw. Mewn llawen hwyl mae'r dall yn gwrando: "Iesu o Nazareth sy'n myn'd heibio." Mae eto'n dyfod trwy y wlad, Canfyddwn ol ei sanctaidd draed; Mae'n aros yma wrth ein tŷ, Mae'n dod i fewn - Waredwr cu. A allwn ninau beidio bloeddio: "Iesu o Nazareth sy'n myn'd heibio." Pob rhai trwmlwthog ato de'wch, Gorphwysfa, hedd, a chartref gewch; Chwi grwydriaid pell o dŷ eich Tad, Dychwelwch, cewch faddeuant rhad; O golledigion, deuwch ato: "Iesu o Nazareth sy'n myn'd heibio." Ond os gwrthodwch chwi yn awr Ei ryfedd gariad dwyfol fawr, Yn fuan try, ni eilw mwy, Eich chwerw lef ni wrendy'n hwy. "Rhy hwyr! Rhy hwyr!" fydd yn adseinio: "Mae Iesu o Nazareth wedi myn'd heibio!"cyf. John Roberts (Ieuan Gwyllt) 1822-77

What crowd, in great haste and worry, Is this which is going past now? Multitudes are coming from day to day; What is this strange sound? The crowd quietly say to him: "Jesus of Nazareth who is going past." Who is he, Jesus? From where Is he able completely to excite the town? What strength, what virtue is in him When so forceful a multitude comes to follow him? The crowd quietly say to him: "Jesus of Nazareth who is going past." Jesus! He who has come down From heaven to the sharply poor of earth; He gives strength to the weak and wizened, He raises the dead to be alive again. In a joyful spirits the blind one is hearing: "Jesus of Nazareth who is going past." Again he is coming through the land, We can all perceive his holy feet; He is staying here by our house, He is coming inside - dear Deliverer. And we cannot stop shouting: "Jesus of Nazareth who is going past." All those of you heavily-laden come to him! A resting-place, peace and a home ye may get; Ye wanderers far from your Father's house, Return, get free forgiveness; O ye lost, come to him: "Jesus of Nazareth who is going past." But if ye refuse now His amazing, great, divine love, He will soon turn, he will call no more, Your bitter cry he will no longer hear. "Too late! Too late!" will be resounding: "Jesus of Nazareth has gone past!"tr. 2012 Richard B Gillion |
What means this eager, anxious throng, Which moves with busy haste along - These wondrous gatherings day by day, What means this strange commotion, pray? In accents hushed the throng reply, "Jesus of Nazareth passeth by." Who is this Jesus? why should He The city move so mightily? A passing stranger, has He skill To move the multitude at will? Again the stirring tones reply, "Jesus of Nazareth passeth by." Jesus! 'tis He who once below Man's pathway trod, 'mid pain and woe; And burdened ones, where'er He came, Brought out their sick, and deaf and lame; The blind rejoiced to hear the cry, "Jesus of Nazareth passeth by." Again He comes! From place to place His holy footprints we can trace; He pauseth at our threshold—nay, He enters - condescends to stay: Shall we not gladly raise the cry? "Jesus of Nazareth passeth by." Ho! all ye heavy laden, come! Here's pardon, comfort, rest and home: Ye wanderers from a Father's face, Return, accept His proffered grace; Ye tempted ones, there's refuge nigh: "Jesus of Nazareth passeth by." But if you still His call refuse, And all His wondrous love abuse, Soon will He sadly from you turn, Your bitter prayer for pardon spurn, "Too late! too late!" will be the cry - "Jesus of Nazareth has passed by."1863 Emma Campbell
