Pan oedd y plant i gyd mewn hûn

(Y Baban Iesu)
Pan oedd y plant i gyd mewn hûn
  Yn nhref Ephrata draw,
Daeth plentyn mwy
    na hwy bob un
  I'r dref o'r byd a ddaw.

Pwy fu mewn lle mor dlawd erioed,
  Ac amser oedd mor fyr,
Yn gweld brenhinoedd ato'n dod
  Ag aur a thus a myrr?

A ganwyd i'r bugeiliaid mwyn
  Am faban bach fel hyn?
A glywed sôn ymysg yr ŵyn
  Am neb fel Iesu gwyn?

Hyd lys y brenin wele'r gair
  Yn mynd am Feth'lem dref;
Ac yntau'n gweld fod baban Mair
  Yn Frenin mwy nag ef.

Nid oes na thŷ na gwely gwyn
  I dderbyn Iesu glân;
Ond O! 'roedd lampau'r Nef yng nghỳn,
  A'r nos i gyd yn gân.

Tôn [MC 8686]: Vilda (Caradog Roberts 1875-1935)

(The Baby Jesus)
When the children were all asleep
  In the town of yonder Ephrathah,
There came a child greater
    than every one of them
  To the town from the world to come.

Who ever in a place so poor,
  And at a time that was so short,
Saw kings coming to him
  With gold and incense and myrrh?

And was it sung to the gentle shepherds
  About a little child like this?
And was a sound heard amongst the lambs
  About anyone like blessed Jesus?

As far as the king's court see the word
  Going about Bethlehem town;
And he seeing that the baby of Mary
  Was a King greater than he.

There is no house nor blessed bed
  To receive holy Jesus;
But O, the lamps of heaven were lit,
  And all the night was song.
