Pan oedd yr Iesu'n byw'n y cnawd

(Crist yn iachau y Ferch glaf, Math. x. 28.)
Pan oedd yr Iesu'n byw'n y cnawd,
Gwasgaru ei glod ar led a wnawd;
  Daeth gwraig o Ganaan,
      mam merch glaf,
  I 'mofyn am y Meddyg braf.

Pan gafodd hon y Meddyg mwyn,
Dechreuodd adrodd wrtho'i chwyn,
  Gan ddweud, Fab Dafydd, trugarha,
  A chymhorth fi, fy Arglwydd da.

Fy merch yn ddrwg ei hwyl y sydd,
Gan ysbryd aflan nos a dydd;
  'Does neb a all ei gollwng hi
  O feddiant diafol ond tydi.

A'r Iesu attebodod fel gŵr traws,
Er na newidiai'r
    Oen mo'i naws;
  Ni che's fy anfon at neb oll
  Ond defaid Israel aeth ar goll.

Er hyn ni phallodd mo'i ffydd gref,
Yn mlaen hi ddaeth, addolodd ef;
  A thaerach daeach oedd ei chri,
  O Arglwydd, cymhorth, cymhorth fi!

Gweddiwn ninnau Dduw trwy ffydd,
Am bob peth yn ddiffygiol sydd;
  Nac awn oddi wrtho'n waglaw bant,
  Niall ef ballu dim i'w blant.

(Christ healing the sick Girl, Matt. 10:28.)
When Jesus was living in the flesh,
Spread his praise abroad he did;
  A woman came from Canaan,
      the mother of a sick girl,
  To ask for the good Physician.

When she got the gentle Physician,
She began to report to him he complaint,
  Saying, Son of David, have mercy,
  And help me, my good Lord.

My daughter is in poor health,
From an unclean spirit night and day;
  There is none can release her
  From the devil's possession but thou.

And Jesus replied like a cross man,
Although the Lamb would not
    change his attitude;
  I was not sent to anyone at all
  But the sheep of Israel who went astray.

Despite this her strong faith did not fail,
Forward she came, she worshipped him;
  And more and more intent was her cry,
  O Lord, help, help me!

Let us too pray God through faith,
For everything that is lacking;
  We shall go from him empty-handed away,
  He shall not fail his children at all.
