Peth ofer iawn yw ceisio datgan

(Ni ellir ei chwilio allan)
Peth ofer iawn yw ceisio datgan,
  Dyfnderoedd maith bodoldeb Duw;
I'w olrain ef a'i chwilio allan,
  Holl ymgais dyn ynfydrwydd yw;
Pa faint ei nerth?
    maint mawr ei gariad?
  Pa ddyn ai edrydd? ym mha iaith?
Y bydoedd oll yn un eu bwriad,
  Dim! dim! eu nerth,
      llwyr ddim eu gwaith.

Er hyn, yn nghiliau'r
    galon ddwyfol,
  Diamau teimlir ef mewn rhan,
Mae'r Anchwiliadwy mawr, anfeidrol,
  I'r doeth yn amlwg y'mhob man,
Ei nerth sy'n dal i fynu'r cyfan,
  Efe sy'n gwared o bob coll;
Mae ef drwy faith ehangder anian
  Yn gariad cadarn, oll yn oll.

Efe 'mhob peth yw sail bodoldeb,
  Ag hebddo nid oes
      dim mewn bod,
A'n bywyd ynddo'n dragwyddoldeb;
  Mawr ar bob mawr,
      boed iddo'r clod;
Am ddylif dy ddaioni tirion,
  Ym mhob peth inni'n gariad rhad;
O iaith pob genau,
    gwraidd pob calon,
  Boed ti'r mawl y dwyfawl Dad.

(It cannot be searched out)
A very vain thing is seeking to express,
  The vast depths of the being of God;
To his tracing and his searching out,
  The whole effort of man is folly;
How great is his strength?
    The great extent of his love?
  What man can report? in what language
All the worlds as one their intention,
  Nothing! nothing! their strength,
      absolutely nothing their work.

Nevertheless, in the recesses
    of the divine heart,
  Doubtless it is felt in part,
The great Unsearchable, immeasurable, is
  To the wise evident everywhere,
'Tis his strength holds up the whole,
  He it is who delivers from every loss;
He is through the vast breadth of nature
  Firm love, all in all.

He is everything is the basis of being,
  And without him
    there is nothing in being,
And our life in him in eternity;
  Great over all greatness,
      to him be the acclaim;
For pouring thy tender goodness,
  In everything for us as free love;
From the language of every mouth,
    the root of every heart,
  Be to thee the praise, O divine Father.
