Pa hyd O Dduw 'n anghofi ni

(Ceisio goleuni mewn tywyllwch)
Pa hyd, O Dduw, 'n anghofi ni,
  A pheidi wrando'n llef?
Dy siriol, hyfryd wyneb-pryd,
  Pa hyd y cuddi ef?

O Dduw, erglŷw, ac edrych lawr,
  Rho 'nawr in' wel'd dy wedd;
Ein llygaid agor, rhag eu cau
  Yn angau du a'r bedd.

Dysg ni ymddiried yn dy rad,
  Ein nefol Dad, bob awr;
I 'mlawenhâu'n dy iechyd di,
  A moli'th enw mawr.

(Seeking light in darkness)
How long, O God, wilt thou forget us,
  And not listen to our cry?
Thy cheerful, lovely countenance,
  How long wilt thou hide it?

O God, listen, and look down,
  Grant now to us to see thy face;
Open our eyes, lest they close
  In black death and the grave.

Teach us to trust in thy grace,
  Our heavenly Father, every hour;
To rejoice in thy salvation,
  And praise thy great name.
tr. 2015 Richard B Gillion
PSAL. XIII.
 1 How long wilt thou forget me, Lord?
     must I for ever mourn?
   How long wilt thou withdraw from me,
     Oh! never to return?

3 O hear! and to my longing eyes
    restore thy wonted light!
  And suddenly, or I shall sleep
    in everlasting night.

5 Since I have always placed my trust
    beneath thy mercy's wing,
  Thy saving health will come, and then
    my heart with joy shall spring.
