Rhagom Filwyr Iesu

(Cān yr Eglwys Filwriaethus)
Rhagom, filwyr Iesu
  Awn i'r gad yn hy!
Gwelwn groes ein Prynwr
  Hon yw'n cymorth cry';
Crist, frenhinol Arglwydd,
  Yw'n Harweinydd mad;
Chwifio mae ei faner,
  Geilw ni i'r gad.

  Rhagom, filwyr Iesu!
  Awn i'r gad yn hy!
  Gwelwn groes ein Prynwr
  Hon yw'n cymorth cry'.

Arwydd buddugoliaeth,
  Wna i Satan ffoi;
Filwyr ffyddlawn Iesu,
  Dowch yn ddiymdroi:
Seiliau uffern grynant
  Gan y nerthol floedd,
Frodyr, bloeddiwch eto,
  Molwch Ef ar goedd.

Fel rhyw fyddin arfog
  Symud, Eglwys Dduw!
Frodyr, lle y troediwn,
  Llwybr y seintiau yw;
Nid ym ni'n rhanedig,
  Ond un corff di-goll,
Un mewn ffydd a gobiath,
  Un mewn cariad oll.

Llawer teyrnas gyfyd,
  Yna rywbryd syrth;
Ond am Eglwys Iesu,
  Byth y saif ei phyrth.
Er pob brad ni lwydda
  Dyfais uffern ddu,
Gan i'r Iesu addaw
  Byddaf fi o'ch tu.

Dowch gan hynny, bobloedd
  Dyma'r dedwydd lu;
Y fuddugol anthem
  Seiniwch gyda ni:
Moliant ac anrhydedd
  Byth i'r Iesu glan;
Dynion ac angylion
  Unant yn y gan!

(The Song of the Church Militant)
Onward, soldiers of Jesus
  Let us go to the battle boldly!
Let us see the cross of our Redeemer
  This is our strong help;
Christ, a royal Lord,
  Is our virtuous Leader;
His banner is waving,
  It calls us to the battle.

  Onward, soldiers of Jesus
    Let us go to the battle boldly!
  Let us see the cross of our Redeemer
    This is a strong help.

A sign of victory,
  Which will make Satan flee;
Faithful soldiers of Jesus,
  Come without delay:
Hell's foundations tremble
  With the mighty shout,
Brothers, shout again,
  Praise Him publicly.

Like some armed army
  Move, God's Church!
Brothers, the place we tread,
  Is the path of the saints;
We are not divided,
  But one unfailing body,
One in faith and hope,
  All one in love.

Many a kingdom which rises,
  Then sometime falls;
But as for the Church of Jesus,
  Forever will stand its gates.
Despite every treachery, never will succeed
  The scheme of black hell,
Since Jesus promises
   I will be on your side.

Come therefore, peoples
  Here is the happy host;
The victorious anthem
  Sound with us!
Praise and honour
  Forever to holy Jesus;
Men and angels
  Unite in the song.

tr. 2010 Richard B Gillion

Onward, Christian soldiers,
  marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
  going on before.
Christ, the royal Master,
 leads against the foe;
Forward into battle
  see His banners go!

  Onward, Christian soldiers,
    marching as to war,
  With the cross of Jesus
    going on before.

At the sign of triumph
  Satan's host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers,
  on to victory!
Hell's foundations quiver
  at the shout of praise;
Brothers lift your voices,
  loud your anthems raise.

Like a mighty army
  moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
  where the saints have trod.
We are not divided,
  all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine,
  one in charity.

Crowns and thrones may perish,
  kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus
  constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never
 'gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ's own promise,
  and that cannot fail.

Onward then, ye people,
  join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices
  in the triumph song.
Glory, laud and honour
  unto Christ the King,
This through countless ages
  men and angels sing.
