Tad tragwyddoldeb plygaf ger dy fron

Tad tragwyddoldeb,
    plygaf ger dy fron,
  Ceisiaf dy fendith
      ddechrau'r flwyddyn hon;
Trwy blygion tywyll
    ei dyfodol hi,
  Arweinydd anffaeledig,
      arwain fi.

Beth fydd fy rhan
    ar hyd ei misoedd maith?
  Nis gwn, fy Nuw;
      ni fynnwn wybod chwaith.
Ai hyfryd ddydd,
    ai nos dymhestlog ddaw?
  Bodlon, os caf
      ymaflyd yn dy law.

Ffydd, gobaith, cariad -
    doniau pennaf gras -
  Addurno f'oes
      wrth deithio'r anial cras;
Rho imi beunydd
    fyw'n d'oleuni di:
  Ddihenydd sanctaidd,
      tyred, arwain fi.

Heneiddia'r greadigaeth,
    palla dyn,
  Diflanna oesoedd
      byd o un i un;
Er cilio popeth,
    un o hyd wyt ti:
  Y digyfnewid Dduw,
      O arwain fi.

Troyte's Chant (A H D Troyte 1811-57)

Father of eternity,
    I bow before thee,
  I will seek thy blessing
      at the beginning of this year;
Through the dark bends
    of its future,
  Unfailing Leader,
      lead me.

What will be my lot
    along its long months?
  I do not know, my God;
      nor would I want to know either.
Will delightful day,
    or a tempestuous night come?
  Content, if I may
      grasp thy hand.

Faith, hope, love -
    the chief gifts of grace -
  Will adorn my life
      while travelling the rough desert;
Give me daily
    to live in thy light:
  Holy, ancient one,
      come, lead me.

The creation is aging,
    man is failing,
  Disappearing are the ages
      of the world one by one;
Despite the retreat of everything:
    the same forever art thou:
  The unchangeable God,
      O lead me.
