Trech yw cariad nag afonydd

(Nerthoedd cariad Crist)
Trech yw cariad nag afonydd,
  Creulonach yn ei rwysg na'r bedd;
Fflam angerddol o'r uchelder,
  Cariad y cyfammod hedd:
    Anorchfygol,
  Yw ei gariad dwyfol ef.

Cariad Tad a welai'n rhoddi,
  Cariad Meichai welai'n un,
'N ymaflyd yn y gwpan chwerw,
  A'i hyfed tros y marwol ddyn:
    F'enaid cofia,
  Cān a diolch byth am hyn.

Llamu wnaeth dros bob mynyddoedd,
  Neidiodd tros y bryniau'n un;
Nid oedd dyfroedd all'sai oeri,
  Ei gariad at y marwol ddyn:
    O anfeidrol,
  Rās ei gariad dwyfol ef.

(The strengths of the love of Christ)
Mightier is love than rivers,
  More cruel in its power than the grave;
An undying flame from the height,
  The love of the covenant of peace:
    Insuperable,
  Is his divine love.

The love of a Father I see giving,
  The love of a Surety I see the same,
Throwing itself into a bitter cup,
  And drinking it for the mortal man:
    My soul, remember,
  Sing with thanks forever for this!

Leap it did across all mountains,
  Jumped across the hills the same;
There were no waters that could chill,
  His love towards mortal man:
    O immeasurable,
  Grace of his divine love!
