Trwy Dduw gall Israel yn awr

(Salm CXXIV - Duw yn cadw ei Israel)
Trwy Dduw, gall Israel yn awr
  Ddywedyd, Mawr ei ras!
Yn dal, yn cuddio hyd yn hyn,
  Er gallu'r gelyn cas.

Yn fyw llyncasent
    fi cyn hyn,
  Eu llid i'm herbyn sydd,
Llifasai dros fy enaid gwan,
  Fel afon gref bob dydd.

Ond bendigedig fyddo'r Ion,
  Ei aden dirion, byth,
Yw, ac a fydd,
    rhag daint fy nghâs,
  Fy noddfa gref a'm nyth.

Fe dorodd iachawdwriaeth Duw
  Fy maglau caeth cyn hyn;
Diangais, do! mi ganaf byth
  Am ras Calfaria fryn.

Fy mhorth a'm tarian mwy, bob dydd,
  A fydd yr Arglwydd Ior;
Efe sydd ben, teyrnasa byth,
  Dros eithaf tir a môr.

(Psalm 124 - God keeping his Israel)
Through God, Israel can now
  Say, Great his grace!
Holding, hiding until now,
  Despite the might of the hated enemy.

Alive they would have swallowed
    me before now,
  Their wrath against me is,
It would flow over my weak soul,
  Like a strong river every day.

But blessed be the Lord,
  His tender wings, forever,
Are, and shall be,
    against the malice of my enemy,
  My strong refuge and my nest.

The salvation of God broke
  My captive snares before now;
I escaped, yes! I will sing forever
  About the grace of Calvary hill.

My help and my shield evermore, every day,
  Shall be the Sovereign Lord;
He who is chief, shall rule forever,
  Over the extremity of land and sea.
tr. 2017 Richard B Gillion
(PSAL. CXXIV.)
1 Had not the Lord (may Israel say)
    been pleased to interpose;
2 Had he not then espoused our cause,
    when men against us rose:

3 Their wrath had
      swallowed us alive,
4   and raged without control;
5 Their spite and pride's united floods
    had quite o'erwhelmed our soul.

6 But praised be our eternal Lord,
    who rescued us that day,
  Nor to their savage jaws gave up
    our threatened lives a prey.

7 Our soul is like a bird escaped
    from out the fowler's net;
  The snare is broke,
      their hopes are crossed,
    and we at freedom set.

8 Secure in his almighty name
    our confidence remains,
  Who, as he made both heav'n and earth,
    of both sole monarch reigns.
