Y nefoedd lân ddadgana Ogoniant Awdwr byd, A dydd i ddydd a draetha Ei fawredd ef o hyd; Hyawdledd eu distawrwydd Anoga ddynol ryw, I ddeffro o'u cysgadrwydd I wir folianu Duw. Ei santaidd Air rydd olau Sydd ganmil gwell i ni Nag eiddo'r furfafenau Na'r dydd er maint eu bri; Arweinia'r llesg ymdeithydd, Yn ddoeth y gwirion wna, A than bob trallod beunydd Yr athrist lawenha. Ei Air sydd werthfawrocach Na disglaer berlau'r byd; A'i ddeddfau ynt ragorach Na'r gwin a'r gwleddoedd drud; Mor ddoeth yw pob gorchymyn A rodda Brenin Nef; Mor ddedwydd yw'r credadyn A geisia'i gadw ef.cyf. The holy heavens declare The glory of the Author of the world, And day to day expounds His majesty always; The eloquence of their silence Provokes human kind, To awake from their sleepfulness Truly to praise God. His sacred Word gives light That it a hundred times better to us Than the firmaments possess Than the day despite their renown; Lead the feeble traveller, Wise the foolish make, And under every daily trouble The unhappy cheer. His Word is more precious Than the shining pearls of the world; And its laws are superior To the wine and the costly feasts; So wise is every command That the King of Heaven gives; So happy is the creature Who seeks to keep it.tr. 2017 Richard B Gillion |
The heavens declare his glory, Their Maker's skill the skies; Each day repeats the story, And night to night replies. Their silent proclamation Throughout the earth is heard; The record of creation, The page of nature's word. So pure, so soul-restoring, Is truth's diviner ray; A brighter radiance pouring Than all the pomp of day: The wanderer surely guiding, It makes the simple wise; And, evermore abiding, Unfailing joy supplies. Thy word is richer treasure Than lurks within the mine; And daintiest fare less pleasure Yields than this food divine. How wise each kind monition! Led by Thy counsels, Lord, How safe the saints' condition, How great is their reward!Josiah Conder 1789-1855
