Y tŷ nid adeilado'r Nêr

(Salm CXXVII)
Y tŷ nid adeilado'r Nêr,
  A'n ofer waith y seiri;
A'r ddinas hon nis ceidw fo,
  Ni thycia gwylio ynddi.

Os boreu godi, os hûn hwyr,

  Os byw trwy lwyr ofidio,

Ofer i gyd: Duw a rydd hûn

  I bob rhyw un a'i caro.

Wele, y plant a roir i ddyn,
  Hiliogaeth ynt i'r Arglwydd;
Ac o'i rodd ef daw ffrwyth y bru,
  I'w magu mewn sancteiddrwydd.

(Psalm 127)
The house the Lord does not build,
  In vain goes the work of the architect;
And that city that he does not keep,
  There is no profit to watching in it.

If rising early, if going to sleep late,

  If living through complete worrying,

In vain all of it: God gives sleep

  To everyone he loves.

See, the children which are given to man,
  Offspring they are for the Lord;
And from his gift comes the fruit of the womb,
  To be raised in holiness.
tr. 2016 Richard B Gillion
PSAL. CXXVII.
1 We build with fruitless cost, unless
    the Lord the pile sustain
  Unless the Lord the city keep
    the watchman wakes in vain.

2 In vain we rise before the day,
    and late to rest repair,
  Allow no respite to our toil,
    and eat the bread of care.

3 Supplies of life, with ease to them,
    he on his saints bestows;
  He crowns their labour with success,
    their nights with sound repose.

4 Children, those comforts of our life,
    are presents from the Lord;
  He gives a num'rous race of heirs,
    as piety's reward.
