Aeth adre'r Meichiau mawr

(Rhinwedd Eiriolaeth Crist)
Aeth adre'r Meichiau mawr
  Mewn hedd i lys ei Dad;
Taenellodd orsedd danllyd nef
  A'i bur gymodlawn waed.

Aeth heibio dyrfau'r ddeddf,
  Diffoddai'r mellt i gyd;
Ac yn eu lle cawn wenau'r nef,
  A hedd a leinw'r byd.

Ein mawl a'n gweddi wael
  A beraroglir mwy,
Trwy lin eiriolaeth Iesu'n Pen,
  Ar sail ei farwol glwy'.
Joseph Harris (Gomer) 1773-1825

Tôn [MB 6686]:
St Michael (William Crotch 1775-1847)

(The Merit of the Intercession of Christ)
The great Surety went home
  In peace to the court of his Father;
He sprinkled the fiery throne of heaven
  With his pure reconciling blood.

He went past the thunders of the law,
  He extinguished all the lightening;
And in their place we have the smiles of heaven,
  And peace which flood the world.

And praise and our wretched prayer
  Will be sweetened henceforth,
Through the interceding knee of Jesus our Head,
  On the basis of his mortal wound.
tr. 2010 Richard B Gillion
