Cof am y cyfiawn Iesu

Cof am y cyfiawn Iesu,
  Y Person mwyaf hardd,
A'r noswaith drom anesmwyth
  Bu'n chwysu yn yr ardd;
A'i chwys yn ddafnau cochion
  Yn syrthio ar y llawr:
Bydd canu am ei gariad
  I dragwyddoldeb mawr.

Cof am y llu o filwyr
  Ā'u gwayw-ffyn yn dod
I ddal yr Oen diniwed
  Na wnaethai gam erioed:
Gwrandewch y geiriau ddwedodd,
  (Pwy allsai ond Efe?)
"Gadewch i'r rhain fynd ymaith,
  Cymerwch Fi'n eu lle."

Cof am yr wyneb siriol,
  Y poerwyd arno'n wir;
Cof am y cefen gwerthfawr,
  Lle'r arddwyd cwysau hir;
O! annwyl Arglwydd Iesu,
  Boed grym dy gariad pur
Yn torri 'nghalon galed
  Wrth gofio am dy gur.

Remember the righteous Jesus,
  The most beautiful Person,
And the heavy, uneasy night
  He was sweating in the garden;
And his sweat as red drops
  Falling on the ground:
There will be singing of his love
  For a great eternity.

Remember the host of soldiers
  With their lances coming
To seize the innocent Lamb
  Who had never done wrong:
Listen to the words he said,
  (Who could but he?)
"Let these go away,
  Take me in their place."

Remember the cheerful face,
  Actually spat upon;
Remember the precious back,
  Where long furrows were ploughed;
O dear Lord Jesus,
  May the force of thy pure love
Break my hard heart
  On remembering thy anguish.
