Pererin wy'n y byd

(Dilyn y Praidd)
Pererin wy'n y byd,
  Ac alltud ar fy hynt,
Sy'n ceisio dilyn ôl y praidd -
  Y tadau sanctaidd gynt;
I 'mofyn gwlad sy well,
  Er 'mod i mhell yn ôl,
Twry gymorth gras, ymlaen mi af,
  Dilynaf innau'u hôl.

Os rhaid ymdrechu dro,
  Milwrio a chario'r groes,
A mynd dan wawd a gwg y byd,
  Dros ennyd fer fy oes;
Caf goron gyda'r saint,
  Tragwyddol fraint sy'n ôl;
Twry gymorth gras, ymlaen mi af,
  Dilynaf innau'u hôl.
I 'mofyn :: Gan 'mofyn
'mod i mhell :: bod ymhell
innau'u hôl :: ar eu hôl
wawd a gwg :: wg a gwawd
innau'u hôl :: ar eu hôl

(Following the Flock)
A pilgrim am I in the world,
  And an alien on my course,
Who is trying to follow the flock -
  The holy fathers of old;
To seek the land which is better,
  Although I am far behind,
Through the help of grace, forward I will go,
  I myself will follow behind them.

If I have to strive for a while,
  I will soldier and carry the cross,
And go under the scorn and frown of the world,
  Over the brief moment of my lifespan;
I will have a crown with the saints,
  An eternal privilege is left;
Through the help of grace, forward I will go,
  I myself will follow behind them.
To seek :: While seeking
I am far :: being far
too ... after them :: ... after them
scorn and frown :: frown and scorn
too ... after them :: ... after them

tr. 2009 Richard B Gillion
