Rhoddodd Iesu yr addewid

1,2,(3).
(Ysbryd yr Addewid / Addewid yr Ysbryd)
Rhoddodd Iesu yr addewid,
  Cyn ei fyn'd i ben ei daith,
Yr anfonai ef ei Ysbryd
  I roi bywydyn ei waith;
    Dawn yr Ysbryd,
  Digon i'r dysgyblion fu.

Mae digonedd cyfiawn etto
  Yn yr hen addewid wiw;
Glynwn ninnau wrth weddio
  Am ymweliad Ysbryd Duw;
    O tywallter
  Ef yn helaeth arnom ni.

O! Lân Ysbryd yr addewid,
  Tyred yn dy ddawn di-lyth;
Mae dy ras yn ddigyfnewid,
  Gweithia'n rymus yn ein plith:
    Deffro'r Eglwys,
  Achub, argyhoedda'r byd.

(The Spirit of the Promise / The Promise of the Spirit)
Jesus gave the promise,
  Before he went to his journey's end,
He would send his Spirit
  To give life in his work;
    The gift of the Spirit,
  Was sufficient for the disciples.

There is a righteous sufficiency still
  In the old, worthy promise;
Let us too stick while praying
  For a visit of the Spirit of God;
    O may he be
  Poured generously upon us.

O Holy Spirit of the promise,
  Come in thy unfailing gift;
Thy grace is unchangeable,
  Work forcefully in our midst:
    May the Church awaken,
  Save, convince the world.
