A Manager
~ Chapter 7 ~
It was now Sunday, the last day of Spring Break, and all the girls were over at Katey’s house practicing.
"I just can’t believe it," Katey said, "This has all happened too fast!"
"Yeah, I know," Renee added, "Now we are going to need to practice more than ever, if we want to make a good CD!"
"Speaking of practicing, we better start doing that, because ours and Renee’s moms are going to be here at 4:30, and it’s 3:00 now," Annie implied.
"She’s right." Katey said taking her bass guitar out of the case.
They practiced five songs, including Renee’s song she just finished, ‘Something Strange’. After they were done it was a little after 4:00, so they had time to just chill.
"Man, that sucks!" Ali complained holding her tongue.
"What?" Renee asked.
"The man that peirced my tongue said my tongue would stop hurting after a few days, but it still hurts to eat Jolly Ranchers!"
"Ali!" All three of her friends exclaimed, throwing pillows at her.
"Sorry!" she said between giggles.

"Well, are moms are here," Renee said.
"Bye," Renee, Ali, and Annie waved at the same time (*yes, there moms got there at the same time! It could happen!)
When Ali and Annie got home, they saw on their Caller ID that Katey had called about 9 times. Annie picked up the phone as she put her instrument down, and dialed her number.
"What’s up?! You called me like 50 times!"
"You are not going to believe this, but the Mercury Records person called and said our manager is Christopher Sabec, and he wants to meet us at Mom’s Music tomorrow at 7:00! We finally have a manager! Isn’t that cool?!" Katey squealed breathlessly.
"That’s awesome!" Annie replied, "Does Renee know?"
"Yeah, I already told her!"
"Great! Well, I guess I’ll see you later, cause I have to go, k." Annie told her twiddling her fingers around the phone cord excitedly.
"K! See ya later!" Katey said.
After they got off the phone Annie told Ali everything, and they both screamed and jumped together, their hearts pounding.
"This is sooo great!" Ali exclaimed.
"Yeah," Annie answered back, as if in a daze.

Right after school the next day Renee, Ali, Annie, and Katey all went over to Katey’s house to get ready to go to Mom’s Music. Ali put on a red Lucky Charms Cereal t-shirt, purple cords, blue and black Vans, her Piglet watch, and her ball chained necklace. Renee wore her purple and black striped "S8ER" shirt, baggy jeans, her purple streaks were braided, and her ball chained necklace too. She also decided to wear her black Airwalks. Annie sported a red and blue striped shirt, blue cords, a wallet chain, her hair in braids (*of course), sunglasses, red docs, and her braids were dyed blue and red. Katey had on a Sublime t-shirt, baggy jeans, her wallet chain (*as usual), a hemp necklace, and blue docs.
"Ok, before we go, lets eat!" Katey suggested taking out a bag of Doritos from a cabinet.
"Sure!" Annie said running for them.
Renee and Ali chewed on Jolly Ranchers and Skittles, and they all drank Big Red or Dr. Pepper.

"Ready to go?" Mrs. Malambri, Katey’s mom asked getting the car keys.
"Yup, ready to roll!" Katey replied.
In the car, all four girls were nervously biting their nails, tapping their feet, holding their stomach full of butterflies, or rambling on about stuff. In Renee’s case, she was rambling.
"We are a real band! We could be as cool as No Doubt or even Bush! Maybe as big as the Spice Girls! Just thinking of little girls everywhere wanting to be like us, and teenage boys crushing over us!"
"Renee, you have a big imagination." Ali commented.
"How do you reckon all this will happen to us?" Katey said in her ultra "hick" impersonation trying to hide her nervousness.
"I’m not saying it’s gonna happen, I’m saying what if it happens. Wouldn’t that be incredible?" Renee’s eyes grew wider.
No one said anything for a moment. All of them were lost in their own daydreams.
"It could happen," Ali told them reassuringly.
After about a 20-minute car ride, they finally reached Mom’s Music.
When they got inside, Christopher said his hellos, and everyone introduced themselves. Then, he asked the band to play some songs. They played, ‘Teenage Superhero’, and ‘Different Endings’, their "cooler" songs.
"Wow," was all Christopher could say. Then, he spoke up, "I was thinking of starting on your album in a couple of months."
"That’s cool," Renee replied nervously.
"This album is going to be the best!" they all excitedly exclaimed.
