Chapter 6
- The Mysterious HeroineAfter jumping from the declining plane at the last minute, Bob sank into the ocean. His body became so stunned by the sting of the water that he couldn’t move. A piece of debris then fell and hit him in the head and his vision became blurred. His energy fading, he let himself be carried by the current. Underwater he began to sink into the abyss of darkness and his mind wanted to blank out. He tried to fight but he felt it was useless.
Bob’s eyes blinked and he began to close them for good when something appeared to be swimming towards him through the water. A couple feet away this glimmer in the water came closer and closer to him, Bob thinking it to be a shark, couldn’t exactly tell what it was. Finally as it got close enough to him he could make out that it was a girl with long blondish red hair. Bob tried to cry out to her but his lungs were full of water. She swam up to him and he could clearly see her sparkling face. All of a sudden she placed her lips upon his and grabbed him tightly around the waist. He was surprised at first but then he realized that she was breathing her air into his lungs. Bob felt them rise to the surface and soon enough they burst through the waves, their lips ripping apart. The experience rejuvenated Bob a little bit as he started to regain his composure. She let go of him and he treaded the water on his own, but his head hurt tremendously. Bob tried to get a really good look at the girl so he could thank her for saving his life but he suddenly felt nauseous. The next thing he knew he had passed out in her arms again.
When Bob returned to reality he felt still and he could only hear the rush of waves around him. Sea foam licked at his heels and damp sand plastered him to the ground. Ground? Yes, he was on solid ground but where was this place?
He forced his eyes open and he saw a figure appear before him. The shadowy silhouette pushed strands of his lose hair away from his face gently. Bob adjusted his eyes to the bright sunlight so he could see this angel before him clearly. Her lips were small yet defined and determined and her face sparkled with the glow of the sunlight and the sea. The mysterious girl’s hair framed her perfect complected face and hung damply around her shoulders in long colorful wisps. Her teal eyes peered into his and immediately he realized that this girl had saved his life. Bob opened his mouth to politely thank her but she put a finger to his cracked lips.
"Shhh," she told him with a small smile. "Everything’s going to be all right now."
Bob felt at ease with her presence and despite the fact that he didn’t even know her he trusted her completely.
Scott sat up in the raft and pointed. "Hey you guys look there’s an island!"
Everyone turned their attention to where he was referring to and cheered.
"Do you think everyone else is there?" Taylor asked whoever was listening.
"I don’t know," Molly replied throwing her black boots off and leaving them in the sand.
Her leather skirt clung to her even more tightly than before and her tank top was soaked.
The raft slowly made it to shore and the group practically leaped out of it onto the yellow sand.
Zac dropped to his knees. "Land! Oh how I missed you!"
He kissed the beach but got a mouthful of sand and shells. "Blah!"
Everyone laughed at Zac’s comedic performance. It was a relief from the horrifying experience they had just encountered.
Molly walked further onto the island, shielding her eyes away from the sun as she looked up at the palm trees. They swayed with the warm breeze. Her heart started pounding as she realized that this island may very well be uninhabited, but they were better off here than they would be floating around in a raft. At this point though she didn’t even care what happened to her because she knew her parents may not have survived and that she would be all alone. Her moment of silent thinking was broken by shouts from Scott.
"Oh my God look! There’s a body over there!" he exclaimed running towards a long figure lying in the sand.
Taylor, Molly, and Zac followed Scott down the beach as they ran to the motionless body. Scott gasped as they got closer to see who it was.
"Bob!" Scott cried dropping to his knees beside his limp brother.
Scott gently shook him and then checked his pulse. It was still beating!
"Bob, come on please wake up."
As if on cue, Bob’s eyes began to open slowly and he looked around. "Where did she go?"
"Huh?" Scott looked at everyone and then back at Bob with a confused look on his face. "Who?"
"The girl that saved me."
"What girl?" Scott asked getting a little freaked out.
"She saved me from drowning and then brought me to shore." Bob explained slowly sitting up and looking around. "She was just here, but I think I passed out again."
"Dude you’re head is bleeding," Zac noticed.
"There wasn’t a girl here when we found you, " Molly told him. "We don’t know what you’re talking about."
"I swear she was just here!" Bob exclaimed but then his head started throbbing and he held it in his hands.
"Chill out man. You’re going to give your self a stroke or something," Scott told him as they helped Bob to his feet.
Molly, Taylor, Zac, and Scott walked back down to where they left the raft and collapsed in the sand thinking about what they should do next.
