Chapter 10

I shook my head as I walked into Blockbuster that night. I just could not believe that Isaac would be that stupid to hang out with those creeps. A sudden fear crept over me. I hope he didn’t think anything was weird about when they saw me flip that kid over like that. No normal person could do that, that I knew of. Well, maybe guys could to other guys their age like in wrestling, but not a girl who was 5’6" only about 110 pounds to an older teenaged guy who was probably almost 200 pounds and about 5’8"! I could flip anyone though if I really wanted to. I was trained to and I had unbelievable strength for a girl, in fact even for a human too! Anyway though I shook my mind clear free from the bad thoughts that remained in there and continued my search for a good movie or two for Taylor and me.

I stumbled upon the horror section and smirked. That had always been my favorite type of movie until I became the slayer. Then I moved onto the mushier movies fighting the urge to actually rent the Blair Witch Project. So I decided to get Simply Irresistible first, but I needed another one. After about twenty minutes of browsing I finally picked up the Blair Witch Project. I knew that I was destined to see that movie! I chuckled to myself.

I paid for the movies and made my way back to my jeep hoping that those guys had left. To my surprise they were gone and so was Isaac. Poor Isaac, having to hang out with those losers. Oh well, cause if he were here I would’ve invited him to come and watch the movies with us. It’s his loss that he goes with them.

I drove down the street stopping at a McDonalds before actually heading home though. I ordered my favorite. I could almost taste it in my mouth as the lady in the maroon and teal uniform handed me a bag with my number 2 meal and a coke in it. I continued to drive off as the intoxicating smell of their french fries filled my jeep. God I needed them. These things were the best junk food in the world I said to myself as I shoved about a handful of them down my throat. Mm, mm, mm! These things are awesome! I decided to save some for Taylor as I got out of my jeep in the garage with the movies and my food and then went inside. I grabbed a couple of blankets, laid them on the couch in front of the living room TV, made some popcorn, and patiently awaited the return of my best friend.

Only within about 35 minutes or so he finally came through my back kitchen door.

"Howdy," he said with his adorable smile.

I giggled at him while taking the microwave popcorn from the kitchen and placing it on the table in front of the couch. I had waited to eat anymore until he got there and then I placed everything out in front of us.

"Ok, take what you want because I already ate half of the french fries on the way over here!" I smiled as a sudden burp escaped my lips.

I quickly clamped my hand over my mouth and looked at Taylor. He gave me this funny look and then we both just started cracking up.

"Damn girl you’re almost as bad as Zac!"

"Hey, I don’t stoop that low . . ."

He laughed.

"Do I?" I asked him with an unsure grin.

"Nah, I wouldn’t go that far either," he replied grabbing the other cheeseburger.

I split the fries between us and then stood up to refill my McDonalds cup up with more coke.

"You want some babe?" I asked him politely.

"Sure," he gave me a look. "Babe?"

"Sorry, just couldn’t resist the temptation of calling you that." I told him matter-of-factly.

He chuckled a little and I laughed back at him. I came back into the living room with my coke, a can of coke for him, and the movies stuck under my arms. That’s when I noticed what he was wearing. He had on a short sleeved white shirt that was what he had on a while ago, and he had switched his jeans to really nice shiny leather pants. I sat down beside him and I could smell a stronger sent of CK One. I just smiled. What did he think this was a date? Awww, how cute! I just kind of kept the thought to myself as we ate.

"Ok, which one first, Simply Irresistible or the Blair Witch Project?" I asked him as it started to go on 8 o’clock.

"Um, the Blair Witch Project." He replied, "but I really don’t care, whichever you want to watch."

"The Blair Witch is fine. You not a Sarah Michelle Gellar fan?"

"Oh no I think she’s really awesome, but isn’t that a chick flick?"

I nodded.

"Yup. I couldn’t resist its simply irresistible box cover so I had to get it!" I said sarcastically.

He laughed and then turned to me as I was putting on the movie.

"You seem a lot happier now or something," he noticed and said it sort of out of the blue.

"Well, I’m just happy that I have a friend I guess," I smiled in return. "You’re very observant."

"They always tell me that, and they say I notice things that nobody else would, but to me it just seems normal!"

I laughed again and nodded.

"Oh my gosh really? I’m like that too!"

"Haha, that’s cool! Want me to turn these lights out?"

"Sure be my guest," I thought a minute, "literally. Hehe!"

He chuckled again as he turned the lights off and the movie came on.

We watched most of the movie but on the parts that were boring we looked through my magazines and stuff like that.

"Um, this is the only magazine that has boys clothes in it that I own!" I told Taylor handing him an Alloy magazine.

There were girls on skateboards on the cover. He flipped through it to the boy’s section.

"Do you like anything on this page?" I asked him. "That’s awesome!"

I pointed to a blue hooded sweatshirt that had a dragon on one of the arms. It was really cool. Taylor kind of scrunched his nose at it.

"I dunno. I’m not too into that grunge look," he told me. That was already obvious though.

"Understandable," I replied. "What about that?"

I pointed to a gray short sleeved, button up shirt that had one black stripe going down the front of it.

"Hmmm, that has potential."

I laughed at him as I paged through my mag.

"What?!" he gave me a look.

"Nothing," I replied, "You just act like a girl! I didn’t think guys cared this much about their clothes!"

"Ok," Taylor dropped the Alloy mag and put his hands out in defense, "first, you say I’m not normal then you call me a girl!"

I giggled at him.

"I didn’t say you were not normal and I didn’t call you a girl either. . . !"

He interrupted me.

"I know what ya meant, I’m just joking!"

"Taylor, you’re an ass!"

"Gee thanks, I’m an ass now!" he laughed.

I threw a pillow at him and started to laugh again.

After the movie was over it was too late to watch the other one. Taylor had to go home.

"I’ll walk you over since I’m not doing anything else at the present moment." I offered him.

"Ok," he accepted it with a smile as we walked out the door.

"You know just in case you get scared!"

He rolled his eyes with a blush; "Me scared? Ha! You’re the one that’s gonna get scared!"

"That’s highly unlikely little man," I argued as we continued on through the forest.

"Little man?" he gave me a look.

"Hehe," I laughed. "Yeah!"

"But, excuse me, I’m about, uh yay big," he measured with his hand, " taller than you!"

"Well, you know, uh," I couldn’t think of anything to say. "I dunno!"

He just laughed.

"Hey have you gotta chance to hear the new Alanis Morrisette Unplugged yet?" Taylor asked me a sparkle in his eyes.

"No, I haven’t. Is it good?"

"Oh yeah! I have the CD. We should listen to it sometime! I’ll bring it over or something," Taylor suggested.

"Sounds good." I replied starting to feel a little weird.

All of a sudden my face started to feel really hot and my eyes got dizzy. My stomach cramped up and I felt like I was going to hurl, but for some reason I just kept on walking silently with Taylor. It was just the weird cramps again. I didn’t like this. I know something is up, but what?
