Chapter 18

I stood there in shook. I couldn’t believe it was true. I lost the battle for Janie. Taylor and I both did. Neither of us had her now, this brown haired vampire wanna be did. I glared at him again and this time noticed that he looked vaguely familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on who he was or who he even looked like that I would know.

"So that’s why I didn’t want to go there with you ok?" Janie continued. "I knew what was going to happen and I didn’t want anyone to get hurt. Also Bob here is the only one who knows about my secret which means if you tell Taylor I’ll . . ."

"Wow, you didn’t tell Taylor something! Oh my gosh!" I said sarcastically.

She glared at me, which kind of made me a little sorry for that. It was a little rude.

" Well, you lied to me."

"I’m sorry Isaac. I just can’t tell anyone ok?" Janie said a little more softly this time.

I looked down.

"Whatever."

"You won’t tell anyone will you?"

I shook my head.

"Alright, if this helps any, I’m sorry," Janie added. "Please go home Isaac, it’s not safe to be out now this late at night."

I nodded and got back into the car very disappointed. My plans were all ruined and I felt let down by Janie. I finally realized that there was just too much to her. I couldn’t have her and now Taylor couldn’t either. She was his, Bob’s. It was all over.

I watched them go into her house as I backed out of the driveway and onto the street.

Driving home, I almost wanted to cry but I was more mad than upset at the situation. I parked my car back at home and slammed the door in the house as I threw my coat on the couch. Taylor came flying from upstairs a very mean look on his face.

I was so not up for this. Not now after what had happened.

"Taylor, don’t you dare even start!" I warned him walking into the kitchen.

He had just put the two of our younger brother and sisters to bed.

"How could you do this behind my back Isaac?"

"What?" I played dumb.

"You know what, dumb ass!"

"Well, if I told you, you wouldn’t have let me go now would you?"

"Well, no, but still!" Taylor yelled. "I so cannot believe you!"

"Taylor just shut the hell up! I’m not in a good mood!"

"What did she turn you down?" Taylor pouted.

I wanted to slap him right there but I knew that that wouldn’t have done much good besides waking up the babies.

"That’s exactly what you want to hear don’t you! You want to know that she hates me because you want her for your self is that right?"

"Well . . ." Taylor looked down. "Now that you put it that way."

"Well, you know, what if I said she did huh?" I blew up at him. "Would that make your pretty little head feel better? Would Mr. Preppy ass feel all relieved inside? Huh Taylor?"

"What are you trying to say?"

"I’m trying to say that she did turn me down! And not only that she turned me down for another guy!" Are you happy now?!"

Taylor looked up wide-eyed when I said ‘another guy’. I snickered, of course.

"Who was it?"

"Who was what?" I played dumb again wanting to change the subject.

Taylor followed me into the kitchen.

"The other guy!" Taylor pleaded.

"Well, it wasn’t you if that’s what you mean!" I told him.

His whole face was suddenly flushed as I could only imagine how bad he probably felt.

"Then who was it?"

"Some dude named Bob!" I grimaced.

"Oh," Taylor looked down. "You’re just joking right?! You just don’t want me to have her b/c you like her too and don’t want to share!"

I gave Taylor the meanest look.

"You’re so immature! If you don’t believe me, stop being a little brat and go over there and see for yourself!" I told him motioning for the back door.

"You mean he’s over there?"

"As of five minutes ago he was," I looked down into the fridgerator as I heard the back door slam behind me.
