Jenny
The
child's eyes were steely blue,
Her
hair like a brand new penny.
Everyone
for miles around,
Knew
her just as Jenny.
It
seemed that all they did was fight,
Until
Jenny came to town.
She
always wore a loving smile,
To
take away their frowns.
No
one knew where she came from,
Or
who her parents were.
There
were stories rumored,
But
no one knew for sure.
Jenny
was a bright child,
Wise
beyond her years.
With
just a touch of her hand,
She'd
wipe away their tears.
As
Jenny grew in years,
She
grew in kindness too.
No
family was beneath her love;
She
had love for children too.
She
always had a story,
The
Bible was her favorite book.
And
she could quiet a child,
With
just a friendly look.
Jenny
never married because,
The
Lord was her only love.
When
she moved on,everyone thought,
He'd
called her home above.
We
all know that Jenny really,
Just
moved on to other towns.
To
take away their sorrows,
And
bring smiles instead of frowns.
The Child
The
little girl sits by the crackling fire,
That
brightens the tiny room.
On
her face is an innocent smile,
That
chases away the gloom.
Her
mother sits in the rocking chair,
That
squeaks as she gently rocks.
And
she glanced fondly at the child,
And
the glow of her golden locks.
She's
opened up her old Bible,
That's
been passed down thru the years.
And
as she reads the stories,
On
her cheek there falls a tear.
The
little girl raises up her head,
At
the sound of her mother's voice.
Putting
down the toy she plays with,
Trying
not to make any noise.
The
stories are so wonderful,
The
pictures so beautifully clear.
They're
reflected in the child's mind.
Like
an image in a mirror.
The
colors and the pictures dance,
So
real within her mind.
She
travels back though ages,
Until
her world is left behind.
"Oh,
Mother," she says,"I see it all!"
And
she claps her hands with glee.
"You
can't ever imagine,
Please
read some more to me!"
The
mother quietly closes the book,
And
lays it on the stand.
She
rises from her rocker,
And
takes the child's hand.
"It's
time for bed." her mother says.
"Tomorrow's
another day.
Now
hop into your cozy bed,
And
don't forget to pray."
After
her kiss the mother leaves,
And
closes the door behind.
"No
one could ever tell," she says.
"My
little girl is blind."
