Graphics are one of things, that are part of a game, that usually aren't as important as the rest of the game. But it is the graphics that draw players in. And in some instances, it creates a realistic environment in the game. That's exactly what certain games like Perfect Dark show off.

Just like last year, the 4MB Expansion Pak must be used with some games, because the N64 can't handle the graphics by itself. Some of these games include Perfect Dark and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Realism will be sent to the next level this coming fall with Nintendo's new 128-bit system, but until then expect to see some of the best looking N64 games ever. The two games just mentioned are just the beginning.

Last year, I mentioned how ACM-rendered games are on the way out. Not true. Both Mario Party 2 (N64) and Donkey Kong Country (GB Color) used ACM graphics last year. And another is coming this year: Mario Party 3 (N64).

Another part of a game that "draws" a player in is the control. Of course, you can't get much control over a character on Game Boy Color, because of the limited amount of buttons. But, with the Nintendo 64, you can get lots of control. With better control, the character you are playing as becomes for realistic. Games like Perfect Dark and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask prove this.

The design of a game includes the following: Story, Plot, Challenge, Diversity of Levels, and Length of the Game. These are perhaps the most important parts of a video game. Check to the left to see what 2000 games made the Top 3 for Best Design.

What makes players come back for more? Fun. If a game isn't fun, it's boring. And who wants to play a boring game? Check to the left to see what 2000 games made the Top 3 for Most Fun.

Sound really isn't that important to a game, unless it uses Dolby Surround Sound. Surround Sound is another part of game that "draws" players in. The Top 3 for Best Sound, to the left, are the three games of 2000 that have the best music, sound effects, and best use of "voice samples".
