Super Smash Bros.

8/10
GRAPHICS: Not terribly great graphics, but it is nice to see the eight arenas taken from each of the characters' games: Peach's Castle (Super Mario 64), DK's Jungle (Donkey Kong Country), Hyrule Castle (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time), Planet Zebes (Super Metroid), Yoshi's Island (Yoshi's Story), Dream Land (Kirby's Dream Land 3), Sector Z (Star Fox 64), and Saffron City (Pokémon). Nice backgrounds and nice portrait endings. (I like the EarthBound one the most.)
8/10
SOUND: Great voice samples and music is taken from all of the characters' games. When you play, the unseen crowd, that is watching you fight, wows, cheers, claps, and even calls out your character's name.
8/10
CONTROL: The jumping did take a little time to get used to, but after you have mastered the control, the game is easy to play.
9/10
CHALLENGE: Great challenge. The game not only has the multi-player mode, but also has a one-player mode (you fight against all of the eight characters, in separate stages, and also fight the "fighting polygon team" and master hand), the bonus stage 1 (you have to break all the targets), and the bonus stage 2 (you have to board all the platforms).
8/10
THEME: The theme is that this "master hand" (which looks like a white floating glove) is playing with dolls of the characters in the game. He magically makes them real and has them fight against each other. Kind of a strange theme, isn't it? To give you a better idea of who the characters are, the game lets you view the background of each character in the "Data" option on the main menu.
9/10
FUN: This game really is fun, when you really get into it. The more the players, the better.

OVERALL: 83% (B)

COMMENTS: In addition to the eight initial characters (Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus Aran, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox McCloud, and Pikachu), there are also four hidden characters: Luigi (Super Mario Bros. 2), Captain Falcon (F-Zero), Jiggy Puff (Pokémon), and Ness (EarthBound). These four characters don't have any arenas, but there is a hidden arena that is based on the world of Super Mario Bros., the NES original.
