The New Craze

For once, I am not talking about Zelda, although she's all the rage nowadays. There is one thing in Japan that not even Zelda (or Mario, or any other, for that matter) can pass. Actually, there are 150 (or more) things that nothing can pass! The answer is... Pokémon!

The little critters have been hanging out in Japan for more then three years and nothing has passed them yet. There is everything Pokémon now -- snack foods, lunchboxes, comix, an anime series. You name it, it has Pokémon on it!

You want to know how this craze started, do you? Of course you do. It started as an RPG for Game Boy. That's right, an RPG. Created by Nintendo. It will stink, you say? Not so! First off, there are three versions of the original -- Red, Green and Blue. Each one has the same game, but different sets of Pokémon. For example, Red has Ekans, Blue has Sandshrew. Red doesn't have Sandshrew, Blue doesn't have Ekans! You have to trade with a friend to get the Sandshrew/Ekans.

What does all of this have to do with us, here in the U.S. of A, you ask? To make it simple, IT'S HERE. The red/blue versions, the comic, and the cartoon have landed on our shores. And it's doing well. My advice: Hide in your basement if you're afraid of monsters, because they have invaded! Hurry, before the craze takes over your friends, your grades, and basically, your life... (that and Zelda combined have done me in)
