Nintendo's Summer Line-Up

Summer is getting to be a "bigger" consumer season, not like the fall, but definitely bigger. This summer, Nintendo will be releasing A LOT of games, for both the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color.

In June, Nintendo will be releasing Command and Conquer, the first war simulation game for the Nintendo 64. It should be interesting to see how this game does. Nintendo will also be releasing five games for Game Boy Color. Conker's Pocket Tales, developed by Rare, is a Zelda-type adventure game starring Conker the squirrel. Ken Griffey Jr.'s Slugfest, developed by Software Creations, is the Game Boy Color (ONLY) version of the Nintendo 64 game. Bass Fishing will be the first fishing game for Game Boy Color. R-Type DX, developed by Bits Studios, will be the first space-shooter for Game Boy Color. The graphics look very nice. Pokémon Pinball, developed by GameFreak, is basically a pinball game featuring Pokémon characters. This game also uses a "Rumble Cart".

In July, Nintendo will be releasing two Nintendo 64 games, but no Game Boy games. Pokémon Snap, developed by GameFreak, is a photo safari starring characters from the Pokémon games. The New Tetris, developed by Blue Planet Software and H2O Entertainment, is a four-player Tetris game. Look for the same type of music in this game as there was in Tetrisphere. This game is also the first N64 game to use the 64GB Pak, which let's you transfer information from your Game Boy to the N64, and vice versa. Unfortunately, the 64GB Pak won't be released until it comes out with Pokémon Stadium in October. So, you'd have to wait until then to use the 64GB Pak for the Tetris game.

In August, Rare will be releasing Jet Force Gemini, a 3rd-person sci-fi action-shooter with unbelievably great graphics. (I know Rare isn't Nintendo, but I thought I might as well throw this game in here.)

So, there you have it. Three months and nine games. It's going to be one "hot" summer.
