November 27 Microsoft has bought Rare. So, Rare will be making games exclusively for Microsoft's "next-gen" system X-Box. Even so, Rare has stated that it will still be developing games for Game Boy Advance. No games were specifically mentioned, but it's likely that Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge and Sabre Wulf will still be released, sometime next year. As for Gamecube games, Star Fox Adventures is the first and last Rare game for that system. All Gamecube projects (Kameo, Perfect Dark 2, etc.) will be released on the X-Box system.

May 12 The Game Boy Advance game system will be released in North America on June 11, 2001, along with over 22 games from various companies. Nintendo's two games are Super Mario Advance and F-Zero: Maximum Velocity. Both games offer multi-player modes, where up to four players can play at once.
August 2 Nintendo has just announced another Game Boy Advance game entitled Magical Vacation. This RPG (possibly the first for the system) is being developed by a new game-developer that Nintendo of Japan has, just weeks ago, created: Brownie Brown. No release date has been given.
Also, the Game Boy Advance system will be released in Japan this fall, and will be released first quarter 2001 in the US. For a list of games for this system, check the newly created Game Boy Advance Software section.
July 29 Nintendo has just announced Mario Kart Advance to be one of the games released for the upcoming Game Boy Advance system. No further information has been released, but expect it to be more like Super Mario Kart than Mario Kart 64.
January 15 Game Boy Advance now has an official release date: November 1, 2000. No games have been announced for it yet, though.
December 10 Shigeru Miyamoto has recently stated that he plans on making a Zelda game for Nintendo's upcoming 32-BIT system: Game Boy Advance. This doesn't mean that Nintendo is currently developing it, but it does mean that Nintendo will probably start soon. (Game Boy Advance is supposed to be released by the end of next year.)
