Hey You

HEY, HI! , YOU

Song playing is
"AMERICA"

HELLO!

You can tell it’s been a long winter. The Christmas lighting has just been removed. And no, the flowers did not get planted until this spring. OK, so I’m moving slow. Very slow.

The summer heat is playing havoc with my want to. I don’t want to be out doing yard work. I do want to stay inside where it is cool. I know I’m not the only one with this type of ‘want-to’, but, hey, I can get away with it. I’m retired.

I didn’t know being retired could be such hard work. I didn’t know I would have more to do now than I did when I was employed. (Or does it simply mean I didn’t know I would slow down as I got older?) Either way, I stay busy. Real busy! Keeping up with my husband and his Pumbaa keeps me on the go and, I hope, feeling younger than I really am. (That was a horrifying thought! Getting older!)

We sold our home and built another. I've learned bigger means more house work and more walking just to get it done. It is said ‘We live and learn’, but sometimes I wonder if I ever will. Learn, that is! But, it is nice being able to pass each other without running over on Pu’s tail or paws. She sure is proud of that, too.

I can no longer watch the wild creatures as I enjoy my morning coffee. We didn’t install patio doors. I miss this morning ritual. Very much! I wonder how hard I would have to beg to get the doors now. Or, I can hope for a solarium. That would work even better. The wild life would come to me, and believe me, there is plenty of it.

We have three families of beaver living behind us. Wild turkeys like to nibble in our back yard. We have a whole community of frogs and toads. Just up the hill is a family of deer. When it rains, we have wild geese and ducks paddling around in the back corner next door to the beaver. I love it. The occasional, unique aroma of skunk let’s us know they have a family in this neighborhood as well. I DON’T love that!!

Our volunteer activities keep us from enjoying our home as much as we would like, but the important activities must come first.

Gotta go. Duty calls. I must tend to my washer and dryer. And a few other minor things, like cooking, cleaning, and getting ready to see what tomorrow will bring.
