Farmers Club
The Blish family, who operated the Blish Milling Company in Seymour, constructed the Farmers Club building in 1914. It was designed as a place for farmer’s families to socialize while they were waiting in the long lines to have their grain processed at the mill. M. S. Blish dedicated the building on July 8, 1914 to the memory of Meedy W. Shields, the founder of Seymour. It was quite an occasion, with bands playing, a parade, booths set up by merchants in the downtown streets, and patriotic decorations everywhere. Among the attendees was the US Secretary of Agriculture, David Franklin Houston, and Professor I. G. Christy from Purdue University.
