Schneck Memorial Hospital

(copyright wording will not appear on the purchased print)

The earliest location for a hospital in Seymour is thought to have been on the second floor of a building at the corner of Chestnut and Brown streets, over a grocery store. In March 1910, Mrs. Mary Schneck donated a lot at the northeast corner of Bruce and Poplar streets and $5,000 to use to build a community hospital. It was in memory of her late husband, Louis Schneck. The Schneck Memorial Hospital was built and dedicated on March 23, 1911. This is how the hospital looked at the time of its dedication. It has been built onto and expanded a great many time through the years.
